Seven Round Mock Draft for Cincinnati Post-Free Agency

Prior to the Draft

The Bengals did a fantastic job signing some legitimate players this offseason. Reader, Waynes, and Alexander are going to be slotted in as immediate starters. The signings allow the team to have a much more clear set of targets in the draft. Here is my 2020 seven-round mock draft for the Bengals post-free agency.

Round 1: Pick 1 – Joe Burrow, Quarterback, LSU

There are rumors that the Dolphins are going to make a push for the first pick. Unless they are willing to give up all three of their first-round picks in return; this is extremely unlikely. Burrow goes number one and the city of Cincinnati can rejoice. Player comparison (Drew Brees).

Round 2: Pick 33 – Grant Delpit, Safety, LSU

The LSU safety loves playing forward, he has an amazing ability to recognize plays and find the ball. Incredibly versatile, Delpit is able to play all over the field and is comfortable in man or zone coverage. There is a slight concern with his tackling ability but NFL coaching should be able to iron that out quick. He checks the box when it comes to ball skills, he is able to disrupt passes and secure takeaways for the defense. Player Comparison (Eric Berry).

Round 3: Pick 65 – Akeem Davis-Gaither, Linebacker, Appalachian State

Davis-Gaither is a physical and versatile linebacker who played all aspects of the position at Appalachian State. He lined up as a stacked backer, outside linebacker and even broke out to cover receivers on the outside when needed. High-level lateral quickness and length, Akeem seeks out contact against the run. Excellent range as a linebacker, the Bengals can rely on him in run or pass scenarios. Player Comparison (Darius Leonard).

Round 4: Pick 107 – Antonio Gandy-Golden, Wide Receiver, Liberty

AGG is the complete package, the Liberty star sits at 6’4 223 pounds with 31 3/4 arm length. Gandy-Golden has an unteachable knack of finding the ball in the air, a master at high pointing the ball and catching with his hands. He showed off a strong run blocking ability to go with his incredible receiving skills. He will fit perfectly with the Bengals offensive scheme; giving Burrow another big target with sure hands. (Player Comparison Kenny Golladay).

Round 5: Pick 147 – Josiah Deguara, Tight End, Cincinnati

With the fifth-round pick, the Bengals select a local talent. Deguara is an exceptional run blocker and has shown some great playmaking ability in the passing game for the Bearcats. Even if the Bengals bring back Eifert, they could use another receiving threat at the tight end position. Player Comparison (Vance McDonald).

Round 6: Pick 180 – Trey Adams, Offensive Tackle, Washington

Adams is a tenacious player in the trenches, he is tough and finishes every single play. The Washington Tackle would provide great depth for the offensive line and would challenge for a starting role with his elite run blocking ability. (Player Comparison Matt Kalil).

Round 7: Pick 215 – Lavert Hill, Cornerback, Michigan

Yes, we signed many cornerbacks this offseason and still have a few remaining on the roster. My guess is Kirkpatrick will he cut. Hill brings great length and ball skills with him from Michigan. He has showcased great footwork at the line of scrimmage along with great timing when extending and elevating to make a play on the ball. (Player Comparison Jourdan Lewis).

Draft Wrap-Up

The Bengals need a Guard really bad but where they are picking, there is much more value in the players I have them taking. Rather than reaching for a Guard, they should opt for the best talent at the positions they’re needing. (Which is a lot of them). These players will all have an immediate impact on the team and allow them to build back into playoff contenders very quickly.
