Bears continue to make additions to their offensive line. The Chicago Bears signed offensive tackle Jason Spriggs of the Green Bay Packers to a one-year deal. Dan Graziano initially reported this.
Jason Spriggs was a former second-round pick of the Green Bay Packers in 2016. The Packers moved up in the 2016 draft to take the offensive tackle. The Packers expected Spriggs to be the future starter. He landed on the injured reserve twice in his career and only played in 29 games.
The deal likely won’t cost the Bears anything. Spriggs gets a shot to compete for the backup offensive tackle role after Cornelius Lucas left to free agency. He even has a shot to compete with the Bears’ offensive tackles, Bobby Massie and Charles Leno, to possibly get playing time after they played poorly last season.
