The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed LeSean McCoy to a one-year deal, according to Adam Schefter. McCoy’s signing is interesting and may have been done since Bucs rookie running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn is out for the time being after he tested positive for Covid-19.
The veteran back just won the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs. In 2019, he ran for a total of 465 yards and 4 touchdowns. McCoy seems ready to join the Buccaneers and hopefully win another ring.
Tampa Bay has a high powered offense. The addition of McCoy adds depth to a running back core that struggled in 2019. McCoy adds experience and could greatly help players like Ronald Jones II and Vaughn.
He would also work well with Tom Brady, and is excited to be with him.
“He’s very excited to play with established vets like Brady and Gronk in trying to win another championship.” Drew Rosenhaus, McCoy’s agent, said.
Brady is known for checking down to his running backs, and McCoy is perfect for that system. In 2019, McCoy amassed 308 receiving yards on 29 catches.
