Big Ten- Illinois and Iowa dominate the news over the weekend.

College basketball has been put in the backseat for some people of late because some of the other major sports are returning. Over the weekend, the NBA has been talked about in full force, but for us college basketball fans it was a glowing weekend to say the least in one certain basketball conference. The Big Ten.

Illinois gets some big news

It all started on Friday evening when the news broke that Illinois star guard, Ayo Dosunmu was going to be returning to Champaign for his Junior season.

That was just one of the domino’s that fell for the Fighting Illini and the Big Ten in general. The next to fall was the very next day. Illinois big man Kofi Cockburn announced that he will also be withdrawing his name from the 2020 NBA draft and returning to school. College basketball twitter went absolutely insane after hearing this news for the Big Ten. After these two stars made their announcement, Illinois is now looked at as one of the favorites to win not only the Big Ten, but make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.

Iowa gets the spotlight

After two Illinois guys announced their return to the game, the Big Ten was clearly going to be the best conference in college basketball. But, what would be the fun of stopping there?

On Sunday afternoon Iowa big man, and the best returning college basketball player, Luka Garza took to twitter and announced his return to Iowa. A lot of people figured that Luka should return to college, but with the season being up in the air it might have made his decision even tougher. Iowa looks to be finishing in the top four in the league.

Other Big Ten news this past weekend

Not only did Illinois and Iowa get some huge returns, but Michigan State did as well. Yesterday afternoon Aaron Henry announced that he would be returning to the green and white. Xavier Tillman later told the media that he would be keeping his name in the NBA draft.

The Big Ten is looking to have another star studded, compettative season. Looking at it right now, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan State and Iowa will be taking the top four spots in the league next season. Don’t be surprised if we see at least six Big Ten teams in the top 25 next year. It will be a great league to watch as always.
