Even though Ryan Hall was the original opponent for Ricardo Lamas that didn’t stop him at UFC Vegas 8. Both Lamas and debutante Bill Algeo gladly traded combinations with each other throughout the fight which led to them both getting a ‘Fight of The Night’ bonus. They traded blows and Algeo actually rocked Lamas twice within the first and second rounds. However, it wasn’t enough for Algeo to get the win as Lamas won via Unanimous Decision with all judges scoring 29-27. Who’s next for Lamas?

  • Ricardo Lamas
    • Retirement

Alexa Grasso decided that it was time to move up to Flyweight and Ji Yeon Kim had the pleasure to introduce her to the 125 division. However, instead of hoping to spoil the flyweight debut of Grasso, Grasso had other plans. We immediately saw the height be a factor against Grasso as Kim Was able to keep her at bay with a snapping jab. However, what Grasso lacked in height she made up for in volume and speed. Grasso closed the gap with quick combinations and even worked on the ground at the final minute of the fight. This showing gave Grasso the decision win with the judges scoring the bout 30-27 x 3. Who’s next for the new flyweight?

  • Alexa Grasso
    • Loser of Montana De La Rosa vs. Viviane Araújo

Many expected this fight to be a barnburner. Lawler is known for having wars and Magny has shown he can go the distance. However, Neil Magny showed the world that he isn’t just someone in the background. The “Haitian Sensation” knew Robbie Lawler was an offensive threat and he knew how to nullify Lawler’s power and his offensive prowess. Using knees, elbows, clinch, and groundwork Magny was able to negate any plan of offense Lawler had. The judges scored the bout 30-27 x 3 and This win extends Magny’s winning streak to 3. This loss extends Lawler’s losing streak to 4. What’s next for the welterweights?

  • Neil Magny
    • Geoff Neal
  • Robbie Lawler
    • Mike Perry

Aleksandar Rakic dominates ex title contender Anthony Smith

The main event was between Aleksander Rakic and Anthony Smith and although it wasn’t the war many had hoped for it showed that Rakic is dangerous from wherever. From the get-go, Rakic showed his dominance over Smith by blasting his legs with hard kicks instantly and even causing Smith to lose his balance slightly which led to Rakic taking control on the ground. Just from this first round, we saw a disadvantage from Smith. However, it wasn’t from lack of skill but from his body. Rakic was stronger and it clearly showed in the fight. Rakic was able to control Smith on the ground easily smothering Smith and ultimately getting the Unanimous decision win with the judges scoring the bout in favor of Rakic with 30-26 and a pair of 30-27. This loss extends Smith’s losing streak to 2. What’s next for the Light Heavyweights?

  • Aleksander Rakic
    • Loser of Thiago Santos vs Glover Teixeira
  • Anthony Smith
    • Maybe a drop back to Middleweight or a break to get stronger
