Matt Chapman Player Profile

The Oakland Athletics just keep on rolling and today we’ll examine one of their stars, Matt Chapman, and his player profile. He is now 27 years old, is having a solid season, but still not a Chapman level season, which is a scary thought for other teams in the western division. The swinging A’s keep right on cruising and haven’t even gotten their star fully going yet.

Chapman is of course a complete player. He is a defensive wizard and can mash it with the bat. Even in a “down” year, he is still at .252 with 10 homers and 25RBI. Chapman also is heating up in the last seven games. According to MLB.com, he is hitting .273 with two homers and five RBI. All he needs to do is lower his strikeout numbers then he is in business. On the season he already has 44Ks in 34 games.

For Chapman, it’s about taking an already solid season and making it into a great one in the second month. As many noticed averages fluctuate like crazy in this shortened season cause of lack of ABs. So if he continues to hit in the .270s or higher in month two of the season, he will still finish with an All-Star campaign.

Look out AL west and yes, Astros I’m looking at you. The A’s are near full swing already and their star – Chapman – has not even hit his peak yet. Trust me Matt Chapman will hit his peak. Making the A’s just that much more fun to watch as he continues to improve in the final month of the season. It’s Chapman time in Oakland. Look out for this star to start owning your tv screens in this final month. Go get them that division, Matt Chapman!
