Since Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has been in the league, he has been a leader on and off the field. He’s revealed that he lost his mother due to a long battle with cancer. Now, during yesterday’s press conference, he revealed that he was dealing with anxiety and depression during the offseason.
Dak Prescott of the Cowboys Battle with Anxiety and Depression
In April of this year (draft day to be exact), the quarterback received a call nobody wants to hear. Tad Prescott told Dak that their older brother Jace had suddenly died and at the time, and no one knew what caused his death. Several predictions of how this could had happened floated around the internet but one thing was clear. An autopsy had to be performed.
The article that is posted on profootballtalk.com says that Dak Prescott spoke openly with ESPN reporter Todd Archer about dealing with the loss of his brother. He tells Archer that during the offseason as the team was dealing with the Coronavirus, he was dealing with something more serious. Something that has to do with his mental health. Dak revealed that he was dealing with depression and anxiety. Luckily, he received help during the offseason. Another thing Dak mentioned during the interview with Todd was how Jace felt like he was a burden when their mother Peggy was battling Colon cancer. It is all such a sad story.
You can watch Dak and the Dallas Cowboys take on the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday Night at 8:20 PM EST on NBC during the first official Sunday Night Football broadcast of 2020.
