Chicago Bears Vs New York Giants
The Chicago Bears week two matchup will be against Daniel Jones and the New York Giants. The Bears are fresh off a fantastic fourth quarter comeback in week one against the Detroit Lions. One in which Mitch Trubisky had the mental toughness to break out of his first half slump. In that first two quarters, Mitch completed just eight of 20 passes for 110 yards. The Bears seemed doomed, and then all of a sudden in the fourth quarter, Trubisky seemed to finally find his groove. He completed eight out of ten passes for 89 yards and three touchdowns. Wow. hopefully Mitch and the Bears can ride that momentum in to their week two matchup against the Giants.
Players to Watch
Matt Nagy will have a lot of good matchups to take advantage of this week. One of them being, of course, Allen Robinson. Robinson will be highly motivated this week because of his current contract negotiations and is set up to face off against former Panthers cornerback James Bradberry. Now, Bradberry is a solid veteran cornerback, but Robinson should be able to take full advantage of this matchup.
The most important matchup to watch for on offense will be the Bears interior offensive line vs Blake Martinez. Blake Martinez was all over the place in week one against the Steelers. He managed to have a total of 12 tackles with one of them being for a loss. If the Chicago Bears run game is to succeed this Sunday, they will definitely have to keep Martinez under wraps.
On the defensive side of the Ball, the Bears number one priority will be stopping running back Saquon Barkley. Saquon had a really rough game last week and will be extra motivated to prove he’s still the one of the best ‘backs in the league. With that being said, the Bears had Adrian Peterson run all over them last week and Saquon will prove to be a much harder task. Not having Eddie Goldman in the lineup will hurt the Bears so much this season. His presence was sorely missed last week and that will be something defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano will have to fix in order to win this game.
This game could go either way, but I feel the Bears will fall just short in the end– with a score of 31-27. The main reason will be Saquon Barkley. I project him to have over 120 yards of total offense and two touchdowns. Even with the projected loss, the Bears will still have some good moments. They might also have a few players step up this week that you probably weren’t expecting. One of them being rookie wide receiver, Darnell Mooney. Mooney proved himself very well in his first career NFL game last week and should have a slightly larger role against the Giants. I project Mooney to have four catches for 62 yards, with one of those catches being a 42-yard touchdown.
