Bellator 247: Kielholtz vs Jackson

Thursday, October 1st, 2020, Bellator will be hosting its 2nd of 3 events in the period of a week, live from Milan, Italy.

Headlined by Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley and Derek Anderson, this highly anticipated event could have been forgiven if it had gone light on the rest of the card, but that is not the case.

With many intriguing matchups none more, than for me the potential fight of the night contest between, Dutch Kickboxing phenom Denise Kielholtz Gerges and ex UFC fighter UK’s Kate Jackson.

Meet the fighters

We start off taking a look, at the current Bellator Flyweight Kickboxing champion, Married to famous Dutch Kickboxer Hesdy Gerges, Denise has an astounding kickboxing record of 47 wins and just 3 losses, but that wasn’t enough for Denise who decided to take her shot at MMA, currently, at 5 wins and 2 losses she has transcended over nicely, coming off the back of a 3 fight win streak, her recent victory came via rear-naked choke in just over 2 minutes of the first round over American Kristina Williams.

Kate Jackson

Kate will be looking to get back to winning ways, the last time we saw Kate, was losing via unanimous decision to superstar Hawaii native Ilima-Lei Macfarlane at Bellator 236, prior to that Kate had earned herself the title shot with two impressive victories, including her famous win at Bellator 200 over at the time undefeated Russian Anastasia Yankova, in terms of MMA experience Kate has the upper hand with previously competing in UFC The Ultimate Fighter series 23, and has also competed against such fighters as Joanna Jędrzejczyk, and with an impressive record of 11-4-1, as previously said this fight is going to be exciting.

The Breakdown

While many will expect Denise Kielholtz, to come into this kickboxing heavy people forget how accomplished her grappling is, with a black belt in judo, she is more than happy to mix it in that department as we saw in her recent victory with her takedown which leads up to her submission victory.

Securing the takedown
Finishing with the rear naked choke

For me this will be the key in this fight, if Kate Jackson is giving Kielholtz kickboxing to much respect, then she will be more than happy to initiate the takedown, and is more than capable of the finish.

For me Jackson will be looking for an early takedown, to take Kielholtz kickboxing out of the equation, this is a tactic she has used previously.

Just 12 seconds into the fight, Jackson initiates the takedown, eventually leading to this impressive brutal finish.

Prediction

As I said prior, this fight has the fight of the night written all over it, both of these women are happy to stand and trade or mix it up on the ground, but I feel on this occasion that Denise Kielholtz stand up, and experience in kickboxing will make her successful, I see either a comfortable decision win or a late finish.

Winner

Denise Kielholtz Gerges
