Colts Move To 2-1, Crush Jets 36-7 in Week Three Action

Philip Rivers

With the first two games of the Colts season marred by serious injuries to players like Marlon Mack and safety Malik Hooker, yesterday’s game was cause for celebration, as Philip Rivers threw his 400th career touchdown pass in the second quarter against the New York Jets on Sunday.

He also went over the 60,000-yard mark as well to become the 6th quarterback in history to do so.

Rivers Delivers!

Even with Rivers’ accomplishments, he more importantly did not throw an interception in this game. He had thrown three in the first two weeks. He was 17 of 21 with 217 yards with a QB rating of 125.6.

Rivers was brought in to Indianapolis before the start of this season and it was hoped he would provide the Colts’ quarterback position with some stability.

With Andrew Luck’s unexpected retirement and Jacoby Brissett’s failure to lead the team last year, Rivers at least offers something for the short term.

Colts Defence Creates Havoc With The Jets Offence

Cornerback Xavier Rhodes picked off Jets quarterback Sam Darnold‘s second pass attempt of the day and return it 44 yards to the end zone for a touchdown.

The Colts’ defense would score 16 points against the Jets’ offensive output of 7 points. Indianapolis would add another pick-six and force a safety later on in the game as well.

The Colts allowed just 260 total yards of offense, and the Jets converted just 3-of-12 attempts on third down. They have averaged 32.0 points per game while allowing just 9.0 PPG during their two-game win streak.

The Colts are in action this coming Sunday against the Chicago Bears in Chicago.
