ONE | REIGN OF DYNASTIES II: What to Watch Out for in This Card

ONE Championship returns to our screens as it airs the second installment of its event series, in REIGN OF DYNASTIES II. Reign of Dynasties will mark as the second international event the promotion holds since taking COVID-19 precautionary measures.

The event features six World Champions who will attempt to climb the ONE Championship rankings. Although this event does not have big superstars, it’s always these cards that deliver the most action. Let us take an in-depth analysis of what to watch out for on this card!

Miao Li Tao vs Ryuto “Dragon Boy” Sawada

This mixed martial arts match is the second bout on the card. A critical match for both men as this can be their way to find a match against higher-ranked opponents. Li Tao had a 3-fight win streak as he started with one, beating the likes of former champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke and Pongsiri Mitsatit. Ryuto Sawada holds a record of 12-5-1. He had previously fought the former champion Yosuke Saruta in a championship bout outside on ONE. This will be an absolute banger as both guys are looking to impress.

Wang Wenfeng vs Azwan Che Wil

Wang Wenfeng will face Azwan Che Wil in a ONE Flyweight Kickboxing match. Both men will have much on the line as they encounter. With both coming off of losses, a win over each other will rocket them to the rankings. The OneSongchai S1 Champion Azwan Che Wil had all lost his two promotional appearances, which was with top opponents. Wang Wenfeng on the other hand had challenged directly for a title in his very first ONE fight. It was against his longtime rival, ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Ilias “Tweety” Ennahachi. Although Wenfeng lost, it was via split-decision, proving that he can grit it out with the top competition.

Wang Wenfeng looks to avoid Ennahachi’s strike

Wang “Metal Storm” Wenfeng is currently the #4 ranked ONE Flyweight Kickboxing contender. A win for him would mean challenging the higher-ranked fighters such as Superlek or Rodtang. A win for Azwan Che Wil would crack him into the top 5.  Watch out for this intense match as these two hungry fighters will climb the stage looking for redemption.

Keannu Subba vs Tang Kai

This bout is a sleeper. This match is one of the most exciting in the whole card. Malaysian Sensation Keannu Subba has been out for a while after losing to the Japanese star Ryogo Takahashi, in which he broke his tibia and fibula during the fight. Prior to the loss, Subba was on a tear and had been in the talks of challenging for the belt. However, his return might not be as easy as it seems. Rising star Tang Kai is riding a 5-fight winning streak. Kai had an impressive starting year for the promotion, knocking out Sung Jong Lee, and dominating Edward Kelly.

Keannu Subba

Both men have very high finishing rates. Both are also equipped with all-around skill sets. With this type of a match, expect a highlight worthy finish or victory.

The Zhang Brothers in the Main and Co-main Event

In such a rare happening, the main and co-main event for this card will feature brothers. One in the ONE Super Series kickboxing bantamweight division, and the other in the ONE Super Series Muay Thai Featherweight division.

“Muay Thai Boy” Zhang Chenglong

In the co-main event, it will be the Muay Thai bout. The older brother “Bamboo Sword” Zhang Chunyu is a WPMF World Champion and will face former Rajadamnern Stadium and multiple-division Lumpinee Stadium World Champion in the name of Sagetdao “Deadly Star” Petpayathai.

Both men will have their ONE Super Series debuts facing each other. Petpayathai previously retired from Muay Thai in 2014 and transitioned to ONE mixed martial arts. Although already of age, Sagetdao Petpayathai proves to still be dangerous. Zhang Chunyu’s journey to ONE Muay Thai gold will be tested.

The main event will headline a kickboxing match. Former ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title challenger “Muay Thai Boy” Zhang Chenglong. Zhang Chenglong is hungry to get a rematch with the division’s champion after he lost in just a narrow decision. But in order to reach that, he must first face the dangerous Hiroki Akimoto. Akimoto is a WFKO Karate World Champion and his most notable win in ONE Super Series is with the recent ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Title challenger Josh “Timebomb” Tonna.

The main and co-main event is absolutely exciting. There will be high stakes surrounding these matches.
