Memphis Tigers lands big man, Sam Ayomide. The 6’11 225lbs player from Malvern Pennsylvania commits to Penny Hardaway and The Memphis Tigers. Sam is the fourth recruit for The Memphis coaching staff in the 2021 class.
A class that’s In The top five in The country for now. Though this class isn’t your flashy, five stars recruiting class, it brings much-needed continuity. The coaching staff is looking to keep guys around for a few years it seems, because in college basketball experience is huge.
Memphis was picked over a hand full of schools including Kansas , Illinois, Wake Forest and others. It hasn’t been any sort of struggle for the Memphis coaching staff in recruiting with Mike Miller’s departure. I’d go as far to say it has been a lot more consistent. Penny and his staff have been petal to the metal, and all in on their guys that they want. It seems to be if The staff makes you a priority, it’s a wrap.
What does Sam Ayomide bring to the Memphis Tigers?
Sam is a shifty big man, his footwork is pretty good for his size. Low pick and rolls as well as scoring with his back to the basket are a strength for Ayomide. He is also good with his putbacks because of his instincts as to where the ball is going to end up. On the defensive side, he’s what you want in a big man.
Not only does he give you blocking and rebounding, but his size and length will make it harder to game plan for opposing teams.
Sam will be a force for The Memphis Tigers program for some years, and he will more than likely get some good run when he enters as a freshman in The 2021-2022 year.
