Chiefs Rout Broncos In Snowy Denver, 43-16

Tyreek HIll celebrating.

The Kansas City Chiefs played their second game in a matter of six days. However, Kansas City did not show any sign of fatigue as they clobbered the Denver Broncos 43-16. Coming into the week, both teams knew there was going to be a chance of snow during the game. Despite this, both teams still combined to put up 59 points. Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes didn’t put up big numbers. And for the second consecutive week, he didn’t have to. The 2018 MVP quarterback went 15 of 23, for 200 yards, with one touchdown and no interceptions, as KC relied more on their defense and special teams to get a 43-16 win over the Broncos on a snowy day in Denver.

Defense Continues To Improve

Chiefs defense.

Since the Chiefs lost to the Raiders back in week 5, the KC defense has been improving on a weekly basis. This week in Denver, the Chiefs caused 4 turnovers. 2 of these turnovers were by intercepting Broncos QB Drew Lock and then recovering 2 fumbles. The Chiefs still gave up 411 yards of total offense. However, they held the Broncos in check by only allowing two touchdowns and forcing Denver to settle for field goals.

Whos the RB1 Going Forward?

A few weeks ago, the Chiefs signed RB Le’Veon Bell after the New York Jets released him. Despite signing Bell, the KC offense revolved heavily around RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Helaire saw more snaps, but he only had 8 carries for 46 yards, and a touchdown. In his Chiefs debut, RB Le’Veon Bell had 6 carries for 39 yards. Expect Bell to get more playing time next week, as he faces his former team in the New York Jets.

Longest Touchdown of 2020

Bryon Pringle.

The Chiefs’ special-teams has been non-existent throughout the first couple weeks of the 2020 regular season. However, WR Byron Pringle dashed through the snow for a 101-yard kickoff return in Denver. This was the longest play of the NFL season as of now. Pringle is a former Kansas St. alum and has showed he has elite speed like teammates Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman.

What’s Next?

The Chiefs are now 6-1 in the season and will head back home to Arrowhead Stadium to take on the 0-7 New York Jets. The Jets have had a rough season to say the least and will look to pull of a major upset in KC next Sunday. The Chiefs may look to use RB Le’Veon Bell against his former team a lot. Jets QB Sam Darnold is healthy and will play in this game after missing two games prior to playing against Buffalo yesterday.
