The Colorado Rockies have had terrible luck during the offseason in the past few years. Jake McGee, Bryan Shaw, and Wade Davis is the few names that come to mind first. They also lost Dj Lemahieu and Adam Ottavino. The Rockies need to turn it around this offseason and their pitching is the top priority.

Robbie Ray

Robbie Ray would be a great addition to the Rockies’ starting rotation. When you put in Marquez, Gray, Freeland, Senzatela and Ray, that is a good rotation. You could also slip in a young guy such as Lambert, and Ryan Castellani if anyone got hurt. Since he is getting up in age, you might get him for cheap as well.

Sean Doolittle

Doolittle could be a key addition for the Rockies’ bullpen. A lefty that could sit in with Daniel Bard, and Scott Oberg would be a deadly combination. Also, with his age, he could be going cheaper than other big arms that are testing free agency. The other thing that Doolittle brings to the club is his leadership. When the Rockies bullpen struggles, Doolittle could help with keeping it positive, hopefully helping out the young pitchers calm down when they get worked up.

Alex Colome

I liked Scott Oberg as the closer in the 2019 season, but as we saw this past year we need someone else to close games. The Rockies experimented on closers and couldn’t find their guy. Wade Davis is not the guy for the job anymore and Alex Colome has proven himself in Chicago. Picking up Colome, if he is a free agent, would put Scott back as a key setup man. Overall, this would improve the Rockies bullpen.

Colorado tried to beef up their bullpen when they brought in Davis, Shaw and McGee. That maneuver caused them to fall flat on their face and this might be their time to make up what they failed at before. It will be nice to see some moves this winter, as last year they didn’t do anything last offseason.
