OTH- Daily Odds 7/21/19

OTH- Daily Odds 7/21/20 is part of a daily series providing you with the odds for all major sports playing that day.

MLB

1:05 Red Sox @ Orioles – Andrew Cashner will make his first start back in Baltimore after his trade to the Red Sox. Cashner will be looking to bounce back after his last start against the Blue Jays. Prior to his last outing against Toronto, he had allowed two runs or less in five straight starts. Boston will be facing Asher Wojciechowski. The Orioles have lost all four games Wojciechowski has pitched in.

Red Sox -1.5 -145

1:05 Rockies @ Yankees – The Yankees just keep on rolling. They are now 31 games over .500 and have gone 7-2 since the All Star Break, winning each of their last five games by four or more runs. Today James Paxton goes to the mound for the Yankees. Even though he is winless in July, he has pitched well in his three July starts, giving up five runs in eighteen innings of work. In his last 12 innings, he has struck out 18 batters. The Rockies have been going in the opposite direction of the Yankees. They are 2-7 since the All Star Break, losing six games in a row. Six of those seven losses have been by at least three runs, with four of them being by six or more runs. German Marquez is starting for Colorado today and he has been inconsistent in July. After going 8-3, he has given up 21 runs over his last three starts. The Rockies have lost four of the last five games he has started and are 2-5 in his last seven road starts. Look for the Yankees to wrap up the sweep today.

Yankees -1.5 -110

1:10 White Sox @ Rays – After three terrible starts, it seems that Blake Snell has rounded back into form. In his last three outings, he has given up four runs in sixteen innings of work (2.25 ERA). The Rays have also won all three of those starts. The White Sox will be starting Dylan Cease today. In his two starts this season, Cease has given up nine runs in eleven innings of work. After losing the last two games to the White Sox, the Rays are in danger of being swept. In addition, they have fallen two games back of the surging A’s and Indians in the wild card race. Today seems like a must win game for the confidence of the Rays. Expect their bats to come out strong and get to Cease early today.

Rays -1.5 -115

1:10 Cardinals @ Reds – Jack Flaherty has been the recipient of some bad luck for St. Louis. The Cardinals have lost his last five starts, and eight of his last ten starts. He has only received the loss in three of those ten games, as he has given up two runs or less in five of those games. Even though he has been pitching pretty well this season, he is 1-3 with a 5.96 ERA in 9 road starts this year. Today he will be squaring off against Anthony Desclafani. He has pitched well in June and July, giving up three runs or less in six of his seven starts. Desclafani has faced the Cardinals three times, and has given up five runs in fifteen innings of work. The Reds have led every game in the series, even though they have blown leads in two of them. Look for them to hang on to the lead today and take a series split from the Cardinals.

Reds -105

1:35 Phillies @ Pirates – The Pirates and the Phillies will face off in game three of a three game series. Dario Agrazal is getting the start for the Pirates tonight. Agrazal has pitched well for the Pirates as of late, allowing two runs or less in all four of his starts. Drew Smyly, who is starting for the Phillies has been hit hard recently. He has given up 25 earned runs in 17.2 innings.

Pirates -145

4:10 Brewers @ Diamondbacks – Brandon Woodruff has had a great season for Milwaukee. He is 11-3 on the season with a 3.53 ERA. The Brewers have won 12 of his last 14 starts, although, he may have a tough time on the mound today. While he is 9-0 at home this season, he is 2-3 away from Miller Park with a 3.94 ERA. He is facing a pitcher who has been masterful so far this season since being called up to the big leagues. Alex Young has appeared in four games this season, starting three of them. In 18 and ⅔ innings pitched, he has given up six hits and two runs (0.96 ERA). He has won all three of his starts this season, and in his only home start, he pitched six no-hit innings against Colorado. The Diamondbacks have show their offensive potential since the All Star Break, scoring nine or more runs in three of their eight games. They probably won’t score that many today but they will score enough to give Alex Young his fourth win of the season.

Diamondbacks +145

4:10 Angels @ Mariners – Sunday’s pitching match-up sees Dillon Peters square off against Yusei Kikuchi. Kikuchi has been very inconsistent for Seattle this season, sporting a 4-6 record with a 5.01 ERA. He has faced the Angels four times this season and has given up 19 runs in 15 and ⅓ innings pitched. The Mariners have also lost eight of his last nine starts. Dillon Peters is starting for the Angels and he defeated them in his only start this season on June 8th. In fact, he has only appeared in four games this season, three of them coming against Seattle. He has given up three runs in seven and ⅓ innings over those three outings. The Angels are 6-3 since the All Star Break, and the Mariners are 1-6 since the Break, with four of those losses coming to the Angels. Look for more of the same today and the Angels to take the rubber match of the series.

Angels -133

Flier of the Day

4:10 Marlins @ Dodgers –   The Marlins have shown grit in this series and have shown they aren’t afraid of the big, bad Dodgers. In game one, Zac Gallen was outdueled 2-1 by Hyun Jin Ryu. In game two, the Marlins fought back from a five run deficit to tie the game, only to give up four runs in the eighth inning. Today’s pitching match-up is one that can give the Marlins some hope. They send Jordan Yamamoto to the mound, who is 4-0 with a 1.59 ERA on the season. The Marlins have won five of the six games he has started, and the only one they lost was 1-0 to Atlanta. His counterpart will be Walker Buehler. While his 8-1 record looks great, and he is unbeaten at home, he hasn’t been lights out. He has only gotten the win in three of his eight home starts, and he has an ERA of 3.16 at home. Overall, he has given up 26 hits and 16 runs over 18 and ⅔ innings in his last three starts. With this spread as high as it is, it is worth our “flier of the day” pick.
