The Cleveland Browns announced today that they have signed Braxton Miller. The former quarterback converted to wide receiver in his final year at Ohio State due to nagging shoulder injuries. He was drafted in the third round of the 2016 draft by the Houston Texans. Miller was recently cut by the Philadelphia Eagles. Miller will be a welcome addition to a wide receiver core that already includes Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landy.

In 21 career games, Miller has logged 34 receptions for 261 yards and two touchdowns. The electric receiver was a fan favorite at Ohio State, and will be for the Browns if he makes the 53 man roster. Miller could also serve for the practice squad if he doesn’t make the final cut.
Receiver Antonio Callaway was recently suspended four games for violating the NFL performance enhancing drug policy. Cleveland will have to make up for loss of his production. Last season, Callaway put up 586 yards on 43 receptions with five touchdowns in his rookie season. Expectations were much higher for a player that performed so well in college. He can’t be completely to blame, the Browns did start the year with Hue Jackson as their head coach.
Miller is a similar player to Callaway. He will be thrown into a positional battle that has been brewing all training camp. Miller will spice up the competition and be a great player for fans to get excited about. Baker Mayfield will have another weapon to use to terrify opposing defenses. Miller will not be fantasy football relevant this year, but he could be an interesting FLEX option during the four weeks that Callaway is out.
