At home, the Villans had a fantastic upset. Everton were the clear favorites entering the match, but the confidence of the Villa team overcame. Villa’s new striker, Wesley, put on a show and really took it to the Toffees. As a result, Villa got their first points of the season as a newly promoted team. On the other hand, Everton looked to be missing that goal factor and has only scored one goal in three games.
Aston Villa 2-0 Everton
Chelsea 3-2 Norwich
At last, we finally got to see that Chelsea goal scoring. Tammy Abraham got a brace and crushed the hopes of Norwich. Chelsea, being away from home, just spiked the hope of the faithful and they will want to continue this no matter what. Conversely, Norwich had a great, competitive game against this Chelsea team and proved they can fight with the best in the league. They will want to continue that fight against the rest and have them survive in this League.
Southampton 2-0 Brighton
After a red card in the first 30 minutes of the game, Brighton quickly had this home performance taken away from them. Southampton had a wonderful away game scoring two goals in the second half. This gave the Saints their first few points of the season. However, Brighton already had their first few points and just could not do much being a man down. They had a disallowed goal in the opening minutes, but nothing else.
Crystal Palace 2-1 Man United
There were two shockers of the weekend. First, Palace beat United. Palace scored first and held the lead for most of the match. It was a strong, defensive performance from Palace that was able to hold United to one late goal. However, Palace scored a goal in the 93rd minute to send them home with the three points. Oppositely, United just struggled. Marcus Rashford missed a penalty for the Reds and just handed Palace the game.
Leicester 2-1 Sheffield United
The shockingly good newly promoted team, Sheffield United, had a interesting home game. They were able to score against a trained Premier League team and previous champion, but fell to a great performance from Harvey Barnes who gave the Foxes the lead. For Leicester, they are technically undefeated with two draws and one win. Another good performance from them as they are near the top of the table.
West Ham 3-1 Watford
Watford had another dismal performance when they played the Hammers and are at the bottom of everything. They just have not been able to hold back against their opponents. 3 games, 3 losses. They will need to change something especially at a home match like this. However, this game was a good three points for a falling behind West Ham team. A solid win altogether for the Hammers as Sébastian Haller got two goals for his brace.
Liverpool 3-1 Arsenal
The Match of the Weekend really solidified where Liverpool wants to be this season. The Reds want to be at the top. They want to be Champions and finally beat out Man City in the League. This is one huge step as they are the only team who has not dropped points yet. On the other hand, Arsenal just could not finish their chances. Pepe had some amazing skills and Arsenal their chances, but just could not overcome the amazing defense of Liverpool.
Man City 3-1 Bournemouth
Away from home, City looked very dominant with Raheem Sterling and Aguero having a great game. Sterling just tied for the most goals so far this season. The City backline looked rock solid with Bournemouth’s only goal coming from a free kick. On the other hand, Bournemouth had a chance to tie the game, but failed to convert. They gave up a goal and the game was out of reach. While City is second in the league, Bournemouth has four points this season.
Newcastle 1-0 Tottenham
Newcastle’s new striker signing, Joelinton, had a goal early in the game that sealed Newcastle’s first points of the season. The defense was able to hold up and deny Tottenham a chance at energizing the home crowd. Oppositely, Tottenham had a rough time. Mauricio Pochettino said his team had paid the price for some poor individual performances. This “top six team” is faltering with only four points so far this season.
Wolverhampton 1-1 Burnley
Earning a draw against Burnley is not the worst, Wolves almost lost at home to them. However in the 97th minute, Wolves were able to equalize and gain a point. Also, this means they are undefeated also, with three draws so far. They will want that elusive win soon. Burnley led for the majority of the game, but came up short. They have four points already and are in the top half of the table which is great for them.
