NFL: Trent Williams Holdout Continues

This past Wednesday, Trent Williams did not report to practice continuing his holdout. This will make him ineligible for week one. As a result, each week he sits out he is losing an estimated $700,000 in base pay.

Trent Williams is continuing his holdout past the preseason.

The NFL might not see Trent Williams in this uniform again.

Why is Williams continuing his holdout?

The mean reason is obviously more money. He is one of the more dominant offensive linemen in the game today and he wants paid like everyone else. He is tired of ownership. Bruce Allen and Daniel Snyder have allowed this once great franchise turn into a mockery. Trent Williams’ contract problem is the latest of the pathetic circus in D.C.

What should have happened before it got to this point?

In the middle of the preseason several teams contacted the Washington Redskins front office for a trade. At this time there have been no desire to trade for Trent but at this point it would be the best option for both parties. The way Snyder is basically saying his way or the highway.

Is there an end to this struggle? It doesn’t look like it will be soon at all. They still don’t want to pay him what he is worth. There are still teams calling about trade offers for Trent but it looks like he is trapped in the vicious web of a disastrous organization.

Trent Williams market value?

Currently, Williams annual salary is set up at 13.6 million a year. His market value is about 15.2 million dollars a year. This would place him as the third highest-paid Left Tackle in the game. Only Nate solder and Taylor Lewan will make more. The boost in pay is only a couple million more a year. He needs to get paid somewhere instead of wasting money or will he just walk away from the game.
