Michigan Week 3: Recap of the Wolverines

Michigan’s first drive rebuttal was a great speed in space play for 68 yards. Just a few short plays later, the Wolverines fumbled yet again. Last season the Wolverines fumbled only three times all year. So far this year they have fumbled the ball six times.

The Michigan Wolverines got off to yet another terrible start. Not only did they allow the Badgers to run down their throats on their opening drive. They also gave up multiple chuck run plays knowing they are going to run the ball. The Badgers also scored with ease.

Later in the first quarter, the refs overturned a clear catch but Michigan killing their drive.

After being forced to punt Wisconsin broke off a 72 yard TD run by Johnathan Taylor. Wisconsin back has 143 yards and 2 TD’s in the first quarter.

In the 2nd quarter, the Badgers add another TD on the ground. Even after star RB Johnathan Taylor left the game with cramps. This game went from bad to ugly in the second while being down 21.

The Wolverine offense is at a standstill not being able to get anything going. QB Shea Patterson is playing like a very replaceable QB while McCaffrey is licking his chops on the sidelines.

Michigan’s final drive in the first half was three plays for -12 yards. I believe the Wolverines have to make a QB change to switch things up at half time.

Wisconsin adds a late score on a 26 yard run by their QB with under a minute to go in the half.

In the 3rd quarter, Michigan does make the switch starting McCaffrey. However, the Wolverine offense still can’t move the ball and have to punt.

Wisconsin runs down the middle of the Michigan defense once more for a score. Johnathan Taylor did come back after leaving in the first half. Brings the score to 35-0 Badgers.

Late in the 3rd after McCaffrey brings the Wolverines down the field aided by two dirty hits by the Badgers. Both those Badger players were kicked out of the game after a targeting call. While McCaffrey had to leave the game after a very nasty, and dirty hit. Shea Patterson came back on to throw Michigan’s first TD of the day. The Wolverines went for two and made it bringing the score to 35-8.

With 7 minutes to play Michigan is throwing all over the Badger defense. Just going straight downfield, you have to wonder where this was all game. Once inside the 10-yard line Michigan stalled once again. However, was saves by a TD on 4th down. Makes the score 35-14.

Michigan was able to recover the onside kick to retain possession.

Michigan scores a TD on the ensuing drive to be called back once more after the officials miss a clear DPI. That will do it the final os 35-14. The Badgers manhandled the Wolverines, and for aid from the officials with multiple bad calls. This game would have still been in Wisconsin’s favor but a lot closer on the scoreboard.

Player of the game: Khaleke Hudson. Hudson had 14 tackles and a sack in the game.
