October 5th 7:30am ET– Entering this game, Brighton is on the edge of the relegation zone. If they were to lose this, they may just fall into it. Consequently, it would be extremely difficult to dig themselves out of it. They do have a reason to try their best this game. Similarly, Tottenham needs a win to get them into the top five and being away from home, may be a difficult game for them to capitalize.
Brighton vs. Tottenham
Burnley vs. Everton
October 5th 10:00am ET– Both teams are in the bottom ten, but going in different directions. Recently, Burnley has been getting points out of their games and now sit in eleventh hoping for a win to pull them into the top ten. On the other hand, the inconsistent Everton team is stuck in a shocking fifteenth. They need to get on the winning track and this game is very important for them.
Liverpool vs. Leicester
October 5th 10:00am ET– The Match of the Weekend. The Foxes travel to Anfield for a top three matchup. At home, this could be a crowd rallying Liverpool victory. Their defense is extremely strong and has shown no signs of falling short. However, Leicester have surged into the top three this season and look fantastic. After last week’s 5-0 thrashing of Newcastle, Leicester will want to prove to the league that this season they are up to any task. They could very well make Liverpool drop points for the first time this season.
Norwich City vs. Aston Villa
October 5th 10:00am ET– Both teams are newly promoted sides that are still finding ground in the league. Norwich is back at home for the first time since they beat Man City and will want a game like this to ignite their fans again. Comparatively, Aston Villa has been struggling and they have not won a game since they played Everton. This is a good opportunity for them to win and gain traction.
Watford vs. Sheffield United
October 5th 10:00am ET– Watford still does not have a win yet this year. Will they get one this week? No one knows. They have been an absolute calamity as of late and have given up ten goals in their last two games. This match at home is vital to their season because they need to show resilience. Sheffield United has had the best season as a newly promoted team so far. They are sitting in twelfth and a win like this could see them potentially in the top ten.
West Ham vs. Crystal Palace
October 5th 12:30pm ET– Last year, this matchup may have meant nothing. Nevertheless, this year, we see two surging teams who look stronger than they have in years past. West Ham is currently in fifth and can possibly make a deeper run due to many “big six” teams falling apart, like Man United. Comparatively, Crystal Palace only has two losses and look like a strong team. They are sitting in ninth and they will need to keep up the pace to stay in the top ten.
Arsenal vs. Bournemouth
October 6th 9:00am ET– This match is a battle of two teams in the top ten. Arsenal is at home and looks to be the favorite. Being out of the Champions League this year, Arsenal wants to work themselves back to the top four and stay there. On the other hand, Bournemouth is in eighth and look like a stable, up and coming side ready to continue showing what they have. There is no better way to do it than away from home.
Manchester City vs. Wolverhampton
October 6th 9:00am ET– Before this game begins, Man City know that every game is for the title race. Liverpool has been perfect since Day one, but Man City has fallen away a bit. Every win will be more and more important to put pressure on Liverpool. After getting their first win of the season last week, Wolves will want to build off that win. They can certainly do that to the extreme if they knock off the Champions who are at home.
Southampton vs. Chelsea
October 6th 9:00am ET– At home, Southampton is looking to at least get some points off Chelsea like they did against Man United. The Saints have an opportunity, but Chelsea’s strong youth stand in the way. Under Frank Lampard, wins have been hard to come by. However, Chelsea have had just enough wins that they could possibly be in the top five by the end of this weekend.
Newcastle vs. Manchester United
October 6th 11:30am ET– Coming into this match, Newcastle is sitting in nineteenth. They are near the bottom of the Premier League table and are still looking for that spark in their season. Similarly, their opponents, Man United, have had real struggles. This has been their worst start to a Premier League season in club history and are really struggling for wins. This away game could really help them.
