Michigan Wolverines: Week 6 Recap

With the 14th ranked Iowa Hawkeyes coming to the big house, the Michigan Wolverines will have to step their game up in a big way to stay in the Big Ten East hunt.

1st Half:

The Wolverines start this game out hot after forcing a turn over early in the game. They would end that drive with a field goal to go up 3-0 on the Hawkeyes.

After the Michigan defense would get another stop. The offense would start off with a 50-yard pass to star WR Nico Collins. That put the Wolverines in the perfect position to end the drive with a TD. This time from freshman RB Zach Charbonnet and the Wolverines take a 10-0 lead.

Iowa and Michigan would then trade drives that each ended with an interception. Iowa quarterback Nate Stanley had not thrown an interception in his last 170 attempts until now.

Later in the first half Stanley went on to throw a 2nd interception. Clearly the Wolverines were watching the film and paying attention to his tendencies. Before half the Hawkeyes would add a field goal to bring the game to 10-3 at half time.

2nd Half:

Stanley started the second half with a drive that ended with his 3rd interception of the day. Stanley has two different streaks in his career of 170 passing attempts without an interception. Clearly he is having the worst game of his career vs these Wolverines.

Between both teams lack of offense, as well as some solid defense on both sides. There would be no more scoring in this entire game. As it ends in a 10-3 victory for the Michigan Wolverines.

Some may say this game was boring due to the lack of offense. However, with almost the entire game being a one-score situation, any play could have taken it over for one of these teams. Fantastic defense was played on both sides of the ball with sacks, interceptions, tackle for losses on run play, etc.

Kwity Paye sacks Iowa QB Stanley

If you are a fan of defense and close games this was the game for you. With that being said the Player of the Game: is Kwity Paye, who had 2.5 sacks and multiple pressures on the Hawkeyes quarterback all day long.
