Where can Ben Watson fit on the New England Patriots?

Ben Watson is near the end of his career as a professional football player in the NFL. He can still be a valuable part of the New England offense this season.

Ben Watson Resigned by the Patriots

Ben Watson was resigned after being cut earlier in the season due to getting beat out for the position. Matt LaCosse was hurt during the game against the Giants. After the injury, they brought veteran tight end into New England to help the team. They paid Ben Watson $1.2 million dollars this season to help Ryan Izzo and the weak tight end position strive.

How Ben Watson can help the Patriots

Ben Watson has experience in the NFL since he is in his 15th season this year. He can also help some of the young tight ends learn the playbook since he played with New England from 2004 – 2009. If Matt LaCosse does not play on Monday due to an MCL injury, Watson will be the starting tight end. This will help the team since, like Tom Brady, Watson may not have the pure skill he used to have, but he still has his experience to use over young players.

How this helps Tom Brady

After Tom Brady found out Ben Watson was cut he was miserable about the decision. Signing Watson back will help Brady since he knows he has another receiver on the field he knows he can trust. Watson will help lead the team with his experience and his pure will to win since he already knows the Patriots way because of his early career.

Watson will be a great piece to have in the locker room and on the field. He is a mighty smart player on the field and off so he is also a great role model to the young players. With him, at tight-end, he may be able to outsmart opposing defensive backs in coverage. Overall Watson is a great addition to this, already stacked, Patriots team.
