Packers vs Raiders Week Seven Preview

Week seven of the NFL season will feature the Green Bay Packers vs Oakland Raiders. The Packers are coming into the game 5-1, after a nail-biting finish vs the Detroit Lions. In his second game without Davante Adams, Aaron Rodgers was masterful finishing with 283 yards and two touchdowns. Rodgers showed flashes of his vintage self, with clutch throws to bring the Packers back from a 13-0 deficit. His numbers would have been even better if it weren’t for drops from the receivers. Although wide receiver Allen Lazard had a breakout game, the Packers will be hoping to get Adams back.

How Are Their Seasons Going?

Aaron Jones struggled, dropping a huge would-be touchdown and then fumbling later on. Jamaal Williams was explosive in his return, finishing with 136 total yards and a touchdown. The game finished with a Mason Crosby, 23-yard field goal to win the game. The Packers will get to relax a little, as they are staying at home for the week seven matchup.

Oakland is coming into the game 3-2, with their last game being a win, in London, vs the Chicago Bears. After a long trip, they got to enjoy a week off, as they had a week six bye. During their game vs Chicago, they were able to pound the ball, finishing with 169 yards rushing. Running back Josh Jacobs finished with a career-high, 143 total yards and two touchdowns. Their defense looked great, as they finished with four sacks and two interceptions. If they can continue to run efficiently and play stout defense, it will take a lot of pressure off Derek Carr. The Raiders will need to count on some of their younger pass-catchers, as veteran Tyrell Williams is expected to miss more time.

Three Keys To Victory For The Packers

Stopping The Oakland Rushing Attack

Josh Jacobs ran wild against the Chicago Bears two weeks ago. Packers defensive lineman Dean Lowry absolutely dominated the Lions offensive line. Pro Football Focus gave Lowry a grade of 89.6 on running plays last week. He will be a key to stopping one of the only healthy weapons that Oakland has.

Aaron Finding A Rhythm With The New Receivers

The Packers could be missing their top three wide receivers due to injury. That would leave him with undrafted free agents Allan Lazard, Jake Kumerow, Darrius Shepherd, and the newly signed Ryan Grant. Luckily, Oakland is ranked 22nd in the league in passing yards allowed. Rodgers should have plenty of opportunities to attack them through the air.

Mason Crosby Remaining Hot

Mason Crosby has been automatic all season long, making 10-11 field goals and all 16 extra points. Crosby has made 16 straight kicks, going back to week four. With the offense being down some of its top play makers, it’ll be important to get points whenever possible.

Prediction

The Packers do have a home field advantage but are coming in injured and with one less day of rest after playing Monday. Oakland is coming in, off their bye week, with two weeks to prepare. It should be a tough match for both teams as both will be relying on their defenses to make plays. The advantage goes to the Packers, whos improved defense has been menacing and attacking opposing offenses this season. The Packers should win comfortably, somewhere around 26-16, to move to 6-1.
