Week 8 Waiver Wire Adds: Fantasy Football

At this point of the season, you should have a fairly good grasp on where your team stands: championship caliber, middle of the pack, or bottom tier trash. No matter where you stand at the moment, an injury, suspension, or yes, even a punch can hurt your fantasy team. It is important to continue to improve your team and look at the fantasy wire. Here are some players you should look to target.

Quarterback

With Patrick Mahomes and Matt Ryan both going down in their games, quarterback is an important position to improve this week. There are still plenty of options on the waiver wire to improve your team.

Sam Darnold, New York Jets – 17.6%

Darnold is one of my favorite adds for the week in general. A very favorable schedule for the second half of the season makes him a great add to any quarterback desperate team. Specifically, Darnold faces the Dolphins twice, the Giants, Bengals, Redskins, and Raiders from weeks 9-14. With the weapons he has, he could absolutely go off.

Matt Moore, Kansas City Chiefs – 0.1%

Who’s the best replacement to Patrick Mahomes? How about his backup? He’s obviously no Patrick Mahomes, but Moore looked very serviceable in his relief for Mahomes. Andy Reid will try his best to find a way to win with what he has.

Others: Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans; Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings

Others Players To Target

After quarterback, it is a real hit or miss nowadays on the waiver wire. Only times a player is really worth dropping/adding is for injury at this point in the season. Here are some solid players to consider adding if your starter got hurt or you need depth.

Chase Edmonds, RB, Arizona Cardinals – 28.9%

Although David Johnson was active, Edmonds destroyed and dominated the New York Giants. Apparently, David Johnson was active as an emergency plan. This was unfortunately discovered after the game. In relief, Edmonds scored three touchdowns. In case this happens again, stash Edmonds on your roster immediately.

Mark Walton, RB, Miami Dolphins – 3.7%

With the possibility of Kenyan Drake being traded, Walton could become the workhorse he already seemed to be against the Bills. Walton had 14 carries in week 7. Since Walton also has receiving skills and upside, he is a better add than Kalen Ballage.

Corey Davis, WR, Tennessee Titans – 43.9%

Did Corey Davis finally figure it out? Or was this just a flash of what will never happen again. Either way, if you have an open spot, take the risk and add Davis if you have an extra spot. He seemed to have a strong connection with Tannehill with six catches for 80 yards and a touchdown. This offense looks much improved with Tannehill.

DeVante Parker, WR, Miami Dolphins – 8.5%

Parker has hurt way too many fantasy owners way too many times, but with three straight scores, he is a smart add. He seems to have a good trusted connection with quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick who isn’t afraid to sling it. Since the Dolphins are also most likely going to be losing in every game they play in, he has a lot of upside.

Dante Pettis, WR, San Francisco 49ers – 27.0%

After a mere two targets and zero catches in a 9-0 win over the Redskins, a lot of people are going to drop Pettis. That would be their mistake. Pettis played in 92% of snaps in the loss. On top of this, the weather in the game was horrendous making it very hard to do much of anything in the game.

Dallas Goedert, TE, Philadelphia Eagles – 21.4%

Zach Ertz who? Dallas Goedert has had two great games back to back. It seems that Goedert is becoming a solid receiving option in Philly and Carson Wentz is trusting his talent.

Kyle Rudolph, TE, Minnesota Vikings – 17.9%

Kyle Rudolph had himself a game! Once Adam Theilen went down, Rudolph started seeing more targets and doing more with them. He is a good add with the tight end position being thin.

Indianapolis Colts D/ST – 16.4%

The Colts had a strong showing against a solid Houston Texans offense. Now they face the Denver Broncos who struggled against the Kansas City Chiefs and allowed them to get 23 fantasy points. Colts are a solid add this week if you are in need of a defense.
