According to NBC Chicago Sports David Kaplan, the Cubs have hired former catcher and ESPN analyst David Ross as there next manager.

David Ross the former Cubs catcher who famously hit a home run in his final at-bat in game 7 of the Cubs 2016 World Series victory has been the front runner in this process since the beginning.

He spent 15 years in the league and comes in with no coaching experience. Ross played under World Series-winning managers in Maddon, Terry Francona, John Farrell, and Bobby Cox.
Ross has served as a special assistant to baseball operations for the Cubs and an ESPN analyst since his playing days wrapped up.
