New England wide receiver Josh Gordon has been placed on injured reserved according to Adam Schefter and Field Yates of ESPN.
Breaking News: Josh Gordon’s time with the Patriots may be over after being placed on IR.
Patriots placed WR Josh Gordon on IR due to his knee injury, per @FieldYates. His season now is over.

There is also a report by Ian Rapoport that the Patriots will release Gordon after he is fully healed.
More on WR Josh Gordon: He exacerbated the bone bruises when he went down against the #Giants. It wasn’t a new injury suffered then. The team rested him a week, but he never looked quite right, I’m told. So IR now, he’ll work back to health, then land with a new team.

The move ends Gordon season after only seven games. Gordon has only played one full season which was his rookie year in 2012. The news comes after the Patriots traded for Mohamed Sanu formerly of the Falcons earlier this week. It seems the Patriots knew of the potentially season-ending injury days ago and that is what facilitated the Sanu trade.
Gordon finished the year with patriots compiling 20 catches for 287 yards and one touchdown.
