Michigan State guard Josh Langford is expected to miss the first half of the season. However, the team is re-evaluating him in January.
Michigan State guard Josh Langford expected to be out until January
According to Graham Couch, an emotional Tom Izzo told reporters that Josh Langford’s foot injury has resurfaced. This is huge news coming out of Michigan State as the season is about to get underway.
Izzo says the problem with Joshua Langford's foot has resurfaced. (He didn't play in the scrimmage at Gonzaga, I understand.) "It breaks my heart," Izzo says, tearing up. "I love Josh Langford. He's one of those guys who has given me everything … almost like nobody I've had."

The news comes as a shock to the college basketball world, because it was reported that Langford was all ready for the season. In other words, Tom Izzo cleared Langford for all basketball activities back in August.
Michigan State's Josh Langford (foot) has been fully cleared for all basketball related activities, per Tom Izzo. Kyle Ahrens (ankle) also at full strength. Spartans are finally healthy.

How it all happened
Michigan State certainly started out the year really strong and Langford’s injury occurred on December 29th and he was out for the remainder of the year, and was expected to make a recovery for this season. Langford was averaging 15 points per game, 2.3 assists per game, and 3.6 rebounds per game.
With the news coming out today, look for Aaron Henry, Rocket Watts, and Foster Loyer all to get an increase in minutes. It’s definitely not what Michigan State wanted to hear a day after they were the preseason AP poll #1.
