Premier League Week 10 Matchup Preview

For the second Week in a row, Liverpool is in the Match of the Week. For the first time, last week, Liverpool faltered in a Premier League match and dropped their first points. Their lead is now only six points. If they were to drop points again and their title contenders were to gain ground, then nervous times for Liverpool ahead.

Southampton vs. Leicester

October 25th 3:00pm ET– Currently on the edge of the relegation zone, Southampton has been struggling. They have not managed a win for way over a month. They are in desperate need of a win or something to give them confidence. On the other hand, Leicester is in third and is keeping themselves in the top four. Games like these are must win if they want to stay in the top four especially away from home.

Manchester City vs. Aston Villa

October 26th 7:30am ET– In the previous home fixture for Man City, they got shut out to Wolves. To be a title contender and to be a Champion of the Premier League, those results can not happen often. They will want to keep the pressure on Liverpool. Similarly, Aston Villa is on a two game winning streak and are experiencing a good time in the Premier League. We will see if they can use their confidence to oust a giant.

Brighton vs. Everton

October 26th 10:00am ET– Brighton is still far down in the table and is having a hard time getting a win. A win at home against Everton would be a huge boost. However, Everton is finally finding their ground after being in the relegation zone. They will want to win very often to give their fans and themselves more confidence.

Watford vs. Bournemouth

October 26th 10:00am ET– At the bottom of the table, Watford still does not have a win on the year. They are still struggling and need as many points as they can get. Last week’s tie against Tottenham proved that Watford is not ready to give up. Also, Bournemouth is on the edge of the top ten and have not salvaged a win since September 20. A win would be very important if they want to stay in the upper half of the league.

West Ham vs. Sheffield United

October 26th 10:00am ET– Having not won a game since September 22, West Ham is looking like they have fallen apart. They are still a good team, but it seems they are missing that spark from earlier in the season. Alternatively, Sheffield United just upset Arsenal and are looking like a very formidable opponent to beat out the Hammers. Both teams will get a ticket further into the top ten if they win.

Burnley vs. Chelsea

October 26th 12:30pm ET– Despite last week’s loss to Leicester, Burnley has played pretty well recently. Games like this can continue or even energize Burnley to much more this season. Likewise, Chelsea has been streaking up the table and have won many games recently. They sit in fourth and are looking to become much more than top four contenders, but title contenders.

Newcastle vs. Wolverhampton

October 27th 10:00am ET– Newcastle is still in the relegation zone and have struggled the whole season. A win against Man United and Tottenham have been their only wins this season. They need more confidence boosting wins for their season. On the other hand, Wolves were once in the relegation zone and have been playing pretty well since then. They will want more.

Arsenal vs. Crystal Palace

October 27th 12:30pm ET– Arsenal is coming off their worst loss of the season to Sheffield United and are now in fifth place. If they want to prove they can be in the top four or even title contenders, every win is mandatory. Comparatively, Palace is coming off a loss to Man City and are currently in sixth. They have played well this season and look to continue their great season against Arsenal.

Liverpool vs. Tottenham

October 27th 12:30pm ET– The Match of the Weekend. Liverpool dropped their first points last week to Man United and have another tough matchup this week. They have taken down every challenge that has come to them and will need to keep moving forward to keep out the title contenders. Conversely, Tottenham has been on a downward spiral for a while now and desperately need confidence. A win or even a draw against Liverpool would boost them and make a true battle for the title.

Norwich vs. Manchester United

October 27th 12:30pm ET– Norwich has not won since September 14 and still need wins desperately since they are in the relegation zone. Their last win was against Man City and they want to win against the other Manchester team. On the opposite hand, Man United handed Liverpool their first loss of points last week and can possibly feed off confidence to dominate Norwich. They need a win as they sit in fourteenth place in the Premier League.
