Week 9 Waiver Wire Adds: Fantasy Football

The Waiver Wire has become bleak. Finding someone in week 9 to add from the waiver wire has become fairly impossible, unless you stream the quarterback position. With that being said, this list of players will not have anyone you should jump out of your seat to immediately grab, but it shows players that will possibly provide you value in the future. Let’s dive in.

Derek Carr, Oakland Raiders – 18%

With the return of Tyrell Williams and the addition of Zay Jones, Carr now has some stability at the receiver position. It also doesn’t hurt to have one of the best tight ends in the league to throw to and a very solid runningback running the ball. Because of all this help, Carr had a three touchdown day this past week. Now, Carr faces a weak remaining schedule with Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets, and Kansas City Chiefs all coming up.

Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans – 6%

The Titans offense appears to be a completely different animal with Tannehill under helm. Tannehill now has more than 19 points in fantasy in his past two games. He may have a tough matchup up next, but the Panthers defense looked very porous against the 49ers this past Sunday.

Mark Walton, Miami Dolphins – 11.6%

With the recent news of Kenyan Drake being dealt, Walton becomes a very viable fantasy add. Mark Walton is in probably the worst offense in the NFL, but he is the starting runningback. Volume doesn’t hurt and he is a solid receiver out of the backfield as well contrary to his counterpart Kalen Ballage.

Jaylen Samuels, Pittsburgh Steelers – 11.7%

Listed as questionable for the Monday Night Match up against the Dolphins, Samuels is a very serviceable PPR back. His value immediately skyrockets as well if James Conner happens to go down with an injury. Week four against the Bengals, he had 18 touches for 83 total yards and a touchdown.

Chris Conley, Jacksonville Jaguars – 9.7%

With Dede Westbrook suffering an injury, Conley turned four catches into 103 yards and a touchdown. Conley is definitely the second option to DJ Chark, but they have a favorable matchup with the banged up Texans coming to Jacksonville.

Preston Williams, Miami Dolphins – 9.4%

With DeVante Parker being the more rostered player, Williams quietly has been performing very well as a rookie. His last game he caught six passes for 82 yards in a loss to the Bills. He was second on the team in targets, but led the team in receiving yards. This reception total and yardage total were both season highs for Williams with Fitzpatrick under center. He’s a solid add as long as Fitzpatrick is slinging it.

Cole Beasley, Buffalo Bills – 26%

With the terrible winds in the Bills vs the Eagles game, it was very hard to throw the ball. This didn’t stop Beasley from finding the endzone for the second straight game. Beasley has been solid this season and with Zay Jones gone, he is the number two option to John Brown for quarterback Josh Allen who have a very favorable next three games (Washington, Cleveland, Miami).

Jonnu Smith, Tennessee Titans – 0.5%

Nobody is sure how much time Delanie Walker will miss, but Jonnu Smith played very well in the absence of Delanie Walker. Smith caught six passes for 78 yards and a touchdown in a win over the Buccaneers. Tannehill and him seem to have a solid connection (yes I know I said the same about Tannehill and Davis). If you are desperate for a tight end, at least consider stashing him.

Darren Fells, Houston Texans – 12.5%

As I said in the waiver wire adds article two weeks ago, Darren Fells is a solid add and has seemed to separate himself from Jordan Akins. He has been very hot and cold, but he is quietly a top 15 tight end in fantasy right now. He’s a safe add if you are in dire need of a tight end.

Chris Herndon, New York Jets – 25.4%

Chris Herndon has had a spell of bad luck. He first got suspended four games, and as soon as he returned, he hurt his hamstring during the week. Because of this, he hasn’t played a game yet. In his place, Ryan Griffin caught two touchdown passes last week, so if Herndon can come back, this would make him a possibly a solid tight end.

New York Jets D/ST – 10%

Easily the best D/ST waiver wire pickup of the week. This potentially is a top play for the next three weeks in which they play the Dolphins, Giants, and Redskins. They may be banged up and traded away Leonard Williams, but these are all still favorable matchups.
