Boqvist was invited to the Blackhawks training camp and ended up playing in a couple of preseason games.

They decided to send him to the AHL and play for the Rockford IceHogs. He played in only 6 games for the IceHogs, He had only 1 point.

That one point came from his first career goal as a pro in last night’s game against the San Antonio Rampage.

Just 24 hours…

After announcing that Kirby Dach will be staying in the NHL for the rest of the 2019-20 season. The Chicago Blackhawks announced that they will be recalling their top defensive prospect, Adam Boqvist.

With the Blackhawks calling up Boqvist, They now have 8 defensemen on the roster.

But since Connor Murphy is on long term injured reserve, A corresponding move is not needed for the Blackhawks.

Even though a move isn’t needed with them calling up Boqvist, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them try and trade Erik Gustafsson.

Erik Gustafsson hasn’t been producing the way they would like him too, off to a very slow start after having a career year last year. In 2018, Gustafsson had 60 points as a defenseman (17G,43A)

Gustafsson is a Free agent at the end of the year, so they mine as well try and trade him before letting him go for pretty much nothing.

Gustafsson is also “quarterbacking” the powerplay unit that has slipped to 30th in the NHL.

The Blackhawks could try and put Boqvist on the powerplay unit to see if he’ll do a better job the Gustafsson. Like what they did with Kirby Dach.

The Blackhawks could be playing Boqvist for 9 games and see how he does. Then if they like what they see he’ll be with the Blackhawks the rest of the season. With Boqvist being only 19, and if he plays more than 9 games, his entry-level contract will basically be burned

Kirby Dach reunited with Adam Boqvist

What a time to be alive to see these two play together and hopefully turn this team around.

The Future is bright for the Blackhawks, so buckle up Blackhawks fans it’s going to be a fun ride to see the future of this team produce
