Premier League Week 11 Matchup Review and Power Rankings

Entering this game against Bournemouth, Man United wanted to keep their winning hopes alive and stay in the top ten. However, the strength of Bournemouth proved too much for the Red Devils. Josh King scored the lone goal of the game as Bournemouth rolled up to seventh in the Premier League and will appreciate that position. For Man United, they drop back into double digits in tenth and they will be disappointed with the lack of attack.

Bournemouth 1-0 Man United

Arsenal 1-1 Wolverhampton

At home, Arsenal should be doing better. They have not won a game in the Premier League for almost a month. As a result, their manager, Unai Emery, looks to be on the hot seat and could easily be fired. On the other hand, Wolves look to be getting their season underway as they keep their constant position in twelfth. Their seems to be a lot of fight in this Wolves team that will want to continue to get points.

Liverpool 2-1 Aston Villa

Down 1-0 in the 86th minute, Liverpool looked they were going to lose their first match of the season. Thanks to the heroics of Andrew Robertson and Sadio Mané, Liverpool did not. This looks like this could be the Championship season for them as they still have not lost a game and look to be on fire. Alternatively, Aston Villa just finished back to back games against Man City and Liverpool. They were close to getting points from them both, but they could not and it sends them back down to sixteenth.

Brighton 2-0 Norwich

For Brighton, they have won three of their last four games and are currently in eighth. They look to be a team that is hitting their groove and surviving in the Premier League definitely. Conversely, Norwich has eight losses out of their eleven games this season. Their club is in a state of worry right now. They need to start hitting their stride soon or they are going to get relegated back to the lower division.

Sheffield United 3-0 Burnley

Sheffield United is on a four game unbeaten run and look strong enough to survive in this league. They are now all the way up to sixth and are thriving. Every win is amazing for them as they are still just a promoted side. As for Burnley, they drop down to fourteenth and have lost the past three games. They are struggling currently and just can not find consistency right now in this League.

Newcastle 3-2 West Ham

Away from home, Newcastle finally proved their firepower. They can score goals, but they just need to make it happen more often. This win propels them to fifteenth and they will want to get as far away from the relegation zone as possible. Rather, for West Ham, they fall all the way down to thirteenth and have not won a game since late September. Their “firepower” we saw in the beginning of the season seems to be missing now and will want to find it before they sink farther.

Manchester City 2-1 Southampton

In a similar situation as Liverpool, Man City came from behind to win against Southampton and keep the pressure on Liverpool. They need every win as it gets closer and closer to the very condensed December games. Similarly, Southampton are looking better this week after losing 9-0 last week to Leicester. They were actually able to put up a fight, but they have fallen into the relegation zone and will need to win soon.

Chelsea 2-1 Watford

A five game winning streak in the Premier League for Chelsea. They are looking supremely strong and are going to attempt to be title contenders. They are in the top four and are looking very threatening with their extremely young team. As for Watford, they are still prime candidates for relegation. They still do not have a win on the season and they desperately need to put up many points as they can right now.

Leicester 2-0 Crystal Palace

The Match of the Weekend. This was a wonderful team performance as Leicester went away from home to beat Crystal Palace. Leicester is looking extremely threatening this season. They look absolutely ready for any challenge. In third and as title contenders, Leicester will want to keep that going to keep pressure on the top two. As for Crystal Palace, they fall down to ninth and will want to win soon to stay in the top ten. If they do not, they could easily slip down farther.

Everton 1-1 Tottenham

In the last match of the weekend, Everton and Tottenham played out to a tragic draw. Tottenham took the lead in the 63rd minute and looked set on winning. However, in the 78th minute, catastrophe. Heung-Min Son slide-tackled André Gomes and Gomes horrifically broke his leg completely. Gomes would be out for the season as an emotional, apologetic Son was given a red card. In the 97th minute, Everton tied the game and got them a deserved draw. Both teams are still in the bottom ten and will need wins very soon.
