It is Week 11, and the Indianapolis Colts will be taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars at Lucas Oil Stadium. This is the first time these teams will match up this season, and it should be an interesting game. The Colts record is sitting at 5-4, and the team has been very inconsistent this season. They have defeated the Chiefs and Texans, but have lost to the Dolphins. This Week 11 matchup is a must-win for the Indianapolis Colts before they take on the Houston Texans next week for the division lead. These are the Keys to Victory for the Colts:
Ruin the Return of Nick Foles
Nick Foles is returning to the Jaguars’ starting lineup for the first time since breaking his collarbone in Week 1. This is an interesting game for him to return due to his connection to Colts coach Frank Reich. Reich was the offensive coordinator of the Eagles for their Super Bowl run with Nick Foles in 2018. There is not much film of Foles playing for the Jaguars, so Reich should be able to give his defensive coordinator the best scouting report available. The defense is playing well, so they should be able to keep the Jaguars offense in check.
Get the Offense Back in Groove
The Colts offense was a disaster in Week 10, and to make it worse, it was against the lowly Dolphins. Brian Hoyer threw three interceptions, and the Dolphins’ defense held Marlon Mack to under four yards per carry. The Colts should get Jacoby Brissett back this week, and he needs to step right back in and play his best football. The absence of TY Hilton has not made things any easier, so Brissett will have to lean on Zach Pascal and his tight ends.
Fix the Kicking Problems
The Colts brought in a few kickers to tryout this past week; however, they decided to stick with Adam Vinatieri. He has been terrible this season and has missed six extra points along with five field goals. This has definitely been the worst season for the 24-year veteran. However, it would be wrong to release somebody that has done so much for the franchise. The best thing the Colts’ front office can do is to express confidence in Vinatieri and hope he regains his Hall of Fame form.
