The quest for their fifth straight win didn’t quite go in the Steelers favor during Thursday Night Football. The Browns defense did not allow for Mason and the offense to get anything going. Mason simply did not have any time in the pocket and made many errors when facing pressure. The Browns front forced Mason to four interceptions and got him on the ground for four sacks.
Steelers Take a Beatdown in TNF Loss
Steelers lose to the Browns on the road in a violent Thursday night showdown.
Injuries were another factor in the game. One by one, the Steelers offensive weapons exited the game with injuries. It started with James Conner reaggravating his shoulder injury and forcing him out of the game. Later a scary hit to JuJu Smith-Schuster put him into concussion protocol. Then a helmet-to-helmet hit to the side of Diontae Johnson’s head lead to the ejection of Damarious Randall.
It was quite a series of unfortunate events for the Steelers. By the end of the game, you can tell Rudolph was frustrated that he took his anger out on Myles Garrett after a late takedown to the ground. Myles Garrett then took the scuffle way too far and hit Rudolph over the head with his own helmet. One can only imagine Garrett will receive a multiple game suspension that could potentially keep him out for the rest of the season.
Looking Forward
It won’t be easy, but the Steelers will look to put this one behind them as they continue their road to the playoffs. They will get a 10-day break before heading to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals looking for their sixth win on the season.
