The New York Jets beat the Redskins, and are officially on a winning streak. After defeating the Giants last week, the Jets have a second straight win coming out of Washington. This win puts the Jets at 3-7 on the season, with all three wins coming against the NFC East. The defense was led by star Jamal Adams, again. On offense, Sam Darnold had another strong performance with a career-high four touchdowns.

Jamal Adams Sack Machine
As discussed last week against the Giants, Jamal Adams is a man on a mission to prove he is worth keeping in New York. Mission accomplished. Adams had an incredible three sacks, tied for second-most in the NFL for week 11. Adams has already set the Jets’ single-season record for defensive backs with six sacks on the season. All of which came after the Jets’ traded DL Leonard Williams. The Jets as a team have had 16 sacks in the three games since the trade, compared to nine sacks in seven games with him, as pointed out by @UnfilterSports.
Overall, the Jets’ defense took advantage of the Redskins offensive line, which ranks worst in the league in run blocking. The Jets held the Redskins to only 54-yards rushing. As a result, the Jets now have the top rush defense in the NFL. This should bode well for the Jets next week against the Raiders, who have the tenth most rushing plays.

Darnold sets Career High
For the second consecutive week, Darnold went 19/30, however, this week with 293 yards and a career-high four touchdowns. Darnold posted a passer rating of 121.3, his best of the season. Additionally, Darnold averaged 9.77 yards per attempt. He is now 3-0 on the season when averaging more than 7.5 yards per attempt. The Jets’ offensive success comes from the passing game, as is the way of the NFL. While the Jets beat the Redskins, the New York offense had a 52% success rate on 33 passing plays, compared to 45% on 33 rushing plays.
Veteran tight end Ryan Griffin emerged as a surprise star for the Jets. Griffin led the team with 109 receiving yards and reached the end zone. Darnold also used Griffin for the Jets’ most successful play, all coming on first and ten. The rise of the passing game comes with perfect timing. Next week, the Jets host the Oakland Raiders, who have the 4th worst pass defense.
