The New York Jets marched down the field and scored on a passing touchdown from Sam Darnold. The extra point was missed. The Washington Redskins responded with one first down on the strength of an Adrian Peterson run. A fumbled handoff put the Redskins in a second and long. A position they could not recover from, leading to a punt.
First Quarter
The Jets ensuing drive stalls when Ryan Kerrigan sacks Darnold. The defensive stand didn’t spark the offense. The Redskins had a quick three and out. The quarter ends 6-0 Jets. The Jets accumulate 145 yards to the Redskins 13. The Redskins extended their franchise record with 14 quarters without a touchdown.
Second Quarter
The defense stops the Jets, but a roughing the kicker, on a field goal attempt, keeps the defense on the field. The Redskins promptly give up the second passing touchdown of the day by Sam Darnold. Trying to push the ball down the field, Haskins hits a 67-yard bomb, but it is called back by a holding penalty, setting up a first and 25. Hard to convert those.
The ensuing Jets drive is cut short by an interception by linebacker Jon Bostic, setting the Redskins up in excellent field position. After a sack by the Jets, the Redskins must settle for a field goal. The score is now 13-3 but not what you want after a second and five from the 11-yard line.
The Jets fumbled the kickoff, and Darrius Guice makes his first appearance for the Redskins in several weeks, but Hopkins misses a short field goal. After exchanging punts, the Jets drive down the field, scoring before the half as Darnold throws his third touchdown pass of the day. The half ends on a Jamall Adams sack, his second of the day. 20-3 at the half and 15 straight quarters without a touchdown for the Redskins.
Third Quarter
The opening third-quarter drive by the Redskins is extended by a roughing the kicker penalty. But questionable play-calling leads to a long fourth down caused by a bad snap on third and two.
Both teams exchange punts. The Jets extended their ensuing drive on a fourth-down run by Bell. No scoring in the third quarter as the Redskins again continue their franchise record of scoreless quarters.
Fourth Quarter
The Jets extend the lead with a touchdown pass from Darnold to ex-Redskin Jamison Crowder. The fourth of the day from Darnold, a career-high.
The Redskins first play, after the ensuing kickoff, was an interception thrown by Dwayne Haskins. Two plays later, Le’Veon Bell punches it in from two yards out, extending the lead to 34-3.
On their next possession, the Redskins end their franchise-record touchdown drought. Dwayne Haskins, backpedaling away from the Jets rush, hits Derrius Guice with a short pass. Guice heads down the sideline for a 45-yard touchdown. This is the first touchdown for both Guice and Haskins and the Redskins first touchdown in over 16 quarters.
The Jets put together a drive that ends in a missed field goal. The Redskins immediately go three and out on three straight incompletions. The defense holds and forces the Jets to punt from their own end zone, giving the Redskins great field position.
The Redskins then march down the field behind a miraculous 41-yard catch by Terry McLaurin, followed by a courageous catch over the middle. Haskins scrambles for a first down. Then three plays later, he completes his second career touchdown pass to the tight end Sprinkle. The two-point conversion is no good, making the final score 34-17, as the Jets run out the clock.

Overall
The Jets win their second straight game, and the Redskins fall to 1-9.
The New York Jets played well on both sides of the ball. Sam Darnold threw four touchdown passes, and the defense pressured Dwayne Haskins all game. The Jets defense also shut down the Redskins rushing attack.
The Washington Redskins struggled on both sides of the ball. There seemed to be no answer for the Jets tight ends who caught six passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns. The offense only clicked on the two scoring drives in the fourth quarter during garbage time. The outcome was never in question.
Although both teams are not in the playoff picture, one team (Jets) seems to be trending in a better direction than the other.
Jets Game Balls
