Patriots vs. Cowboys Week 12 Recap

The Patriots vs. Cowboys was completely a defensive and special teams game. This is the recap on how the New England Patriots did against the Dallas Cowboys.

Sloppy Patriots Offense

The game was won by the Patriots defense and special teams, not the offense. The offense could not stay on a hot streak for long and they had a lot of sloppy penalties. There were a lot of good single offensive plays, but not many long drives where it would end in a touchdown. The offensive line was committing lots of penalties and overall a lot of major mistakes. Injuries have also been a major factor in why New England’s offense has been weak. These injuries consist of Mohamed Sanu, Phillip Dorsett, and David Andrews. If the whole offense was healthy the team would have done better as a whole.

Patriots Special Teams Was Solid

The Patriot’s special teams were pretty good in the game against the Cowboys. Matthew Slatter had a blocked punt, which led to New England scoring the only touchdown of the game. Also, the kickoff unit did a great job making sure the returner did not go far, one time they even stopped him behind the 20. The downside of the special teams was the kicking and punting. The punting from Jake Bailey was ok, but he is better than how he played against the Cowboys. He was punting a lot of the punts out of the back of the endzone and not even giving the gunners enough time to make it down the field. It was also raining that game which is the main reason why the kickers and punters did not live up to expectations. The kicking that night was a little off with Nick Folk kicking two for four. If he wants to stay a Patriots he has to get more consistent.

The Defense Was On Another Level

The Patriot’s defense was giving the Cowboys a rough time when they tried to move the ball on them. Stephon Gilmore was beating Amari Cooper up all game, and he even had a spectacular pick on Dak Prescott. The defensive line was scaring the center of the Cowboys which made him make some terrible snaps which led to terrible passes by Prescott. The only person who could move the ball against the Patriots was Ezekiel Elliott. This was mainly because the Patriots run defense is average this season so far. Overall, the defense was spectacular, and they won this game for New England today.

Conclusion

The Patriots offense is looking worse and worse every week, but the defense is looking better and better. The Patriots need to move the ball better on offense and the line needs to wake up. The young receivers looked great for New England and I can’t wait to see their future in New England. If any team wants to come up to New England in December or January and face New England I feel bad. The Patriots have the advantage when any team comes to play them. Overall the Patriots did a great job moving there record to 10 – 1 this season.
