Known as “Mr. Game 7”, Justin Williams is back. Williams and the Carolina Hurricanes agree to terms on a one year, $700,000 deal. Even though he hasn’t been playing hockey since last June, he’s been staying in shape.

Based on Williams’ performance, he can also earn an additional $1.3 million. Last season, He played all 82 games in the season, and registered 23 goals and 30 assists for 53 points. Throughout his career, he’s been consistent. He’s only been under 40 points once when playing over 60 games. His best season came with the Carolina Hurricanes during his first stint with the team back in the Stanley Cup winning, 2005-06 season. That season, he scored 31 goals, potted 45 assists, for 76 points. He’s played with four teams in his career. The Flyers, Hurricanes, Kings, and Capitals. So far in his career, he’s played 1,244 games, scored 312 goals, has 474 assists, racking up 786 points.
The playoffs is where Justin Williams shines. He’s won three Stanley Cups, two with the Kings, and one with Carolina. In 2013-14, when he won the cup, he took home the Conn Smythe, awarded to the best playoff performer. In a total of 155 playoff games, Justin has 40 goals, 61 assists, for 101 points. His nickname, “Mr. Game 7” was because he has seven goals and seven assists for an NHL leading, 14 points in seven game sevens. In all game sevens, he is 7-0.
Justin Williams is probably looking at bottom six minutes with the Hurricanes. In the off-season, he was depicting whether or not to retire or rejoin the team. This will most likely be the last NHL season for Justin Williams. He’s had a great career, and will most likely finish it out with the Carolina Hurricanes.
