Previewing the Heats Week

An odd week for the Heat had them splitting their four games last week. Miami had only lost one game before last week to a team with a sub .500 record but lost two last week. The losses came against Washington and Orlando two southeast division foes. The two wins last week featured a defensive battle with the Raptors and a wire to wire win against the former Heat star Hassan Whiteside and the Blazers. Let’s take a look at the week ahead In this edition of Previewing the Heats week.

Last Week’s Results

Previewing The Week Ahead

This week will be a challenging as the Heat hit the road for all three games this week. Two of which will be against teams Miami very possibly could be facing in the playoffs with Indiana and Brooklyn lingering around the last spots of the playoffs. Let’s take a deeper look at each game this week as the Heat continue to battle for the second seed in the East.

Indiana Pacers 1/7/20

Wednesday night Miami travels to Indiana to face the Pacers. These two teams met just over a week ago and it was a hard fought defensive battle. Goran Dragic ended up sealing the game late but Indiana does possess a tough battle for the Heat. Bam Adebayo played spectacular in their last matchup but I expect the Indiana front court to give Miami some trouble. Malcolm Brogden missed their last matchup which was a huge loss for their back court. Still no word on whether Justise Winslow we play as he was listed questionable for Sundays game against the Blazers. Winslow did travel with the team which is an encouraging sign for his availability at some point on this road trip. I expect this to be a low scoring hard fought battle in which Miami squeezes out a tough road win against a gritty team.

Brooklyn Nets 1/9/20

Friday night features a game against the Nets in Barclays Center. The Nets have hit a bit of a wall as they have dropped six straight games and dropped all the way down to the eight seed out east. This season has been filled with up and downs as they continue to miss superstar Kyrie Irving who has missed nearly the whole season with a mysterious shoulder injury. I expect the Heat to come into Brooklyn and take care of business against a team who has not been playing great as of late.

New York Knicks 1/11/20

On Sunday the Heat wrap up their road trip in Madison Square Garden taking on the Knicks. It’s been an extremely rough year for the Knicks as nothing seems to be going right. They’ve missed out on free agents, signed 27 power forwards, and fired their head coach. Miami should dominate Start to finish against a team that lacks talent. New York sits second to last in the east only behind the underachieving Atlanta Hawks.
