BREAKING: Timberwolves Receive D’Angelo Russell

In a four player trade, the Minnesota Timberwolves acquired
All Star point guard D’Angelo Russell from the Golden State Warriors. It has
been made known that current Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns is close
friends with the young point guard. They both participated in a photo shoot
earlier in the season that produced this quote from Russell; “We gotta do this
again, when we’re all on the same team,” alluding to himself, Towns, and
Phoenix SG Devin Booker. Two of the three are now together. Whether or not this
big three will ever come to fruition, the Wolves received a young and coming
point guard in attempt to break their current losing streak of 13 consecutive
games.

D’Angelo on the Move

Warriors Reload

The Warriors received a few assets of their own in the trade, including 24 year old swing man, Andrew Wiggins. They also received a pair of draft picks in the deal. At this point, it is clear the Warriors’ are looking ahead to next season. They just traded their only healthy All Star for an underwhelming scorer and draft picks. The new assets they have acquired will either be used to draft young, new talent, or flipped in another trade this offseason in preparation of another playoff run next year. Either way, the move was strategic in their reload rather than aggressive in their pursuit of the playoffs this season.
