The Golden State Warriors front office was quite busy during the NBA trade deadline. The first big move was the trade involving Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III.

The two wings were sent to Philadelphia in exchange for a trio of second-round draft picks.
76ers have fortified their bench with two veteran scorers and shooters — Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III. Three second-rounders (Dallas 2020, Denver 2021, Toronto 2022) sent to Warriors.

Following that move, the Warriors shipped D’Angelo Russell to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a deal centered around Andrew Wiggins.

Burks and Robinson Trade
Both of the wings from the first Warriors trade have expiring contracts of just over $1 million each. It’s not much the Warriors received, but they’ve shown they can find value in the second round. See Eric Paschall for more on that. Philly also adds some shooting and wing depth to a team looking to compete for a championship right now.

Glenn Robinson III: 47%— Victor Williams (@ThePhillyPod) February 6, 2020
With a near-minimum contract expected for Robinson after this season, the potential remains for him to re-join Golden State in 2020-2021.
The loss of Glenn Robinson is a blow to the coaching staff. They really liked him. I expect a strong push to get him back next year

D-Lo On The Move… Again
Russell will now be playing for his fourth NBA team in just five seasons. He joins his fellow top-two 2015 NBA Draft pick Karl-Anthony Towns in Minnesota. Golden State must have felt that a trio of Curry, Thompson, and Russell would be able to compete for a championship together. As such, they get back Andrew Wiggins who could be seen as a rich man’s Harrison Barnes and a poor man’s Kevin Durant. A talented wing paired with the “Splash Brothers” could prove menacing once again in the western conference next season.
Additionally, Golden State has now acquired six second-round draft picks this season dating back to the Willie Cauley-Stein trade.
In 33 games, Russell shot 43% from the field and 37% from three in Golden State, scoring over 23 points per game. Wiggins has averaged over 22 points per night on 44% shooting from the field this season.
