Reese McGuire, catcher for the Toronto Blue Jays, was arrested last Friday for exposing himself. The incident took place in a public parking lot outside of a Dunedin strip mall. McGuire, was inside an SUV, allegedly his own.
According to ABC Action News, McGuire did not deny the allegations. McGuire is due in court on March 16. His hearing will take place at the Criminal Court Complex in Clearwater.
On this matter, the Toronto Blue Jays released a statement Wednesday.
As of now, the team, nor McGuire have commented on the incident. On Friday, General Manager Ross Atkins addressed the public.
“What I can tell you about Reese is that this is a very, very difficult situation for everyone involved. It is not an easy one for anyone to go through. Hopefully people can understand that, because of legal process, we’re just really limited on what we can comment on and want to be respectful of the process. I can tell you that the organization, we’re struggling with it, it’s a very difficult situation and very difficult for Reese as well.”
“I can also tell you that, in due time, we will have more specifics on the legal process and Reese will definitely be addressing the fans, and he wants to be doing that,” said Atkins.
When McGuire will address the fans is not known. It is also not known how much this may affect McGuire’s playing time.

Career With the Jays
Reese McGuire was acquired by the Jays in 2016, in a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The trade sent RHP Drew Hutchinson to the Pirates for veteran LHP Francisco Liriano, McGuire, and OF Harold Ramirez.
Reese McGuire is one of the top catching prospects in the Blue Jays organization. McGuire made his first appearance in a Blue Jays uniform in 2018. There, he batted .290, with an OBP of .333 and a slugging percentage of .581. In 2019, through 30 games, he slashed .299-.346.526.
Projection for Reese McGuire
Projections for 2020 have McGuire splitting time with Danny Jansen. It is not yet clear how this incident will impact McGuire. Baseball Reference projected McGuire to have 256 plate appearances. His projected Batting Average is .273, an OBP of .335, and Slug. Percentage of .485.
