Hargreaves joined the team after being waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the middle of the season. He played for the Buccaneers for three and a half seasons. The Buccaneers cut Hargraves during the regular season. He recorded 16 tackles and two pass deflections in six games with the Texans.
The Texans had signed Hargraves to help add depth to the cornerback position. They suffered a lot of injuries to the position from Johnathan Joseph, Bradley Roby, and second-round pick Lonnie Johnson. Hargreaves was able to start two games in the regular season for the team.
The Texans Offseason Impact
The move helps the team clear up $10 million in salary-cap space as they work on resigning some of their free agents. One of the free agents the Texans will try to resign will be running back Carlos Hyde. Defensive tackle DJ Reader is another target in free agency the team could resign.
The Texans have questions about how to handle their current cornerback position. Joseph and Roby are free agents which cuts into the depth of the position. Gareon Conley comes in as their top corner as he started six games with the team with 11 pass deflections. Conley will need some reinforcements as the team will need depth at corner.
