Josh Gordon was recently indefinitely suspended from the NFL because he failed his sixth substance test in his NFL career. Should the XFL attempt to sign Josh Gordon?
Pros
The XFL is in need of some major stars to bring into the league. Josh Gordon is an athletic receiver who could bring that next level stardom into the organization. Gordon is a lengthy 6’3” wide receiver who can be a major player on the football field. This could attract some NFL fans who want to watch Gordon no matter where he plays football. Gordon received 20 touchdowns, 4252 receiving yards, and 247 receptions in his NFL career. He is only 28 years old, which leaves a lot of time for him to prove himself. “Our drug testing policy includes (performance-enhancing drugs) but it does not include marijuana,” XFL Commissioner Oliver Luck told Barstool Radio during an interview, the Tampa Bay Times reported. If Gordon does any major drug except for marijuana then this could be a major problem for the XFL signing him.

Cons
The XFL cannot spend a lot of money on athletes. If Gordon wants to play in the XFL he is going to have to take pay cuts, so he has a chance to go back to the NFL. In the NFL Gordon was a top receiver when he was on the field, so this could lead to many money arguments between Gordon’s agent and Oliver Luck. If we learn that Gordon did more drugs than just marijuana then he will have close to no chance of ever playing football again. The XFL wants stars, but they do not want to ruin their reputation as an upcoming football league.

Conclusion on Josh Gordon
Overall I think the XFL should take a slight chance on Josh Gordon unless we learn it is more than marijuana. They do not want to ruin their reputation as a league since they just started. On the other hand, if they signed Gordon this would bring more people to watch the XFL games overall. Gordon could also strive by being signed by the XFL because he could make a comeback to the NFL or make a lot of money in the XFL.
