David Pastrnak Is Becoming One Of The Bruins’ Greats

Over time, legends are created. In the rich Boston Bruins history, David Pastrnak is gradually becoming one. In his brief six years of NHL service, Pastrnak has accumulated 177 goals and 183 assists for a total of 360 points. Not to mention 77 game-winning goals. In this post, we will evaluate three reasons why David Pastrnak is becoming one of the Bruins’ greats.

Bruins’ Rich History

Bruins fans have certainly seen their share of heroes over the years. When talking about the Bruins, names like Phil Esposito, Bobby Orr, Ray Bourque, Rick Middleton, and Zdeno Chara stand out. With time, Pastrnak should be in that elite group.

In six NHL seasons, Pastrnak is etching a name for himself in Bruins’ history. He has become one of the game’s top goalscorers. This year alone, he has 45 goals and 41 assists for 86 points. Another impressive statistic is his eight game-winning goals achievement.

Since his rookie season in 2014, his production has gradually increased. Like most superstars, players get better each year. Such is the case for Pastrnak.

Superstar Teammates

Although Pastrnak’s numbers are impressive, his linemate, Brad Marchand, is slightly ahead of him. Since Marchand’s rookie season, his production has also gradually increased.

Comparing Marchand’s numbers, he has 285 goals and 349 assists for 634 points. In six seasons, Pastrnak is not far behind. A dirty reputation has hurt Marchand’s popularity over the years. If Pastrnak can stay healthy, he should be one of the league’s best players for years to come.

Pastrnak’s Future

Pastrnak is in the second year of a $40 million contract. He doesn’t become an unrestricted free agent until 2023. If the scoring production keeps getting better, he will break the bank. Keep in mind, he also has five hat tricks for the 2019-20 season.

The Bruins, have had a history of great players. Watching Pastrnak on a daily basis is intriguing. If he keeps on improving, there is no doubt he will be in the same category as Orr, Esposito, Bourque, and others.
