Toronto Maple Leafs Make a Trade

Rosen was part of the trade between the Maple Leafs and Avalanche this past summer that brought Tyson Barrie and Alexander Kerfoot to Toronto. For a team that needs defensive depth, this is a good move for the Maple Leafs. During his time playing with the Toronto Marlies, Rosen recorded 11 goals and 57 assists for 68 points in 116 games. If Rosen ends up playing for the Maple Leafs he’ll be playing for a head coach who already knows his game.

Michael Hutchinson

It is safe to say that Hutchinson did not have the start that he was hoping for. After losing his first 6 games of the season he only ended up winning 4 out of 14 games. After the Maple Leafs added Jack Campbell from the Los Angeles Kings, the writing was on the wall for Hutchinson.

Final Thoughts on This Trade

I think it is a win for everyone involved. Rosen gets to return to an organization he is familiar with. If he spends any time with the Maple Leafs he’ll be playing for a coach that knows him well. This trade will also offer Hutchinson a fresh start. The Maple Leafs gave Hutchinson every opportunity to hold on to the backup goaltender job. Unfortunately, things just didn’t work out for him. With Joseph Woll and Kasimir Kaskisuo already playing for the Marlies. A trade involving Hutchinson was inevitable.
