The New York Giants’ fourth pick in the 2020 NFL draft is receiving a lot of buzz. There have been reports of teams wanting this spot due to a vast majority of top offensive linemen. A lot of teams have needs at that position due to a lack of protection. In some cases, organizations need to replace expensive veterans.
The New York Giants have needs too.
The Giants are in a position to receive a pick that can substantially fulfill a need. For years they have had protection issues. With the fourth pick, they have three offensive linemen that are on top of the 2020 draft class to choose from. These three are Tristan Wirfs right tackle from Iowa, Mekhi Becton left tackle from Louisville, and Andrew Thomas left tackle from Georgia.
Meet Tristan Wirfs
Tristan Wirfs is the best right tackle in the country. He played three years at Iowa and dominated due to his strength and speed. The mammoth lineman is 6’5 and weighs 320 pounds with a well-proportioned frame with lean muscle mass. Wirfs has tremendous lateral quickness and gets out of his stance quickly, dominating each wave of the defense on run plays. His hands are quick and steady with a dominant punch, plus he has an extended shuffle with rushers around the arch. There is position depth he possesses also. There have been games he played both left and right tackle.
Meet Mekhi Becton
Mekhi Becton is a left tackle from Louisville. He adds drama to the mix due to this prospect alone could kill the whole trade concept. This monster is 6’7 and weighs 367 pounds. His punch and extension have unbelievable power to knock rushers back a few yards on the first steps. He has excellent balance with great angular adjustments on the move. Becton’s football IQ will allow him to adapt quickly to the speed of the pro level.
Meet Andrew Thomas

Andrew Thomas is a left tackle out of Georgia. He played three years and has been one of the best pass protectors we have seen in a long time. He is 6’5 and weighs 320 pounds. Thomas also has lethal run block combinations due to his physical aggressiveness. His massive reach and strength keep pass rushers at bay at the extension of his range. He does tend to get overzealous with the aggression that gets him too top-heavy at times in pass protection, but his IQ gives him a great mind to adapt and compete at the next level.
Do the New York Giants have a linebacker on their radar?
Isaiah Simmons from Clemson is by far the best linebacker in this class. The Giants let go of Alec Ogletree and Kareem Martin as they start their overhaul of the salary cap. With a depleted linebacker core, this might be a viable option since this class is not deep with linebackers and vastly deep in offensive linemen.
Trading down is an option.
There is a vast majority of teams eyeing the Giants pick at four due to half the NFL’s need for quality offensive linemen. The problem with the Giants trading the fourth pick is they would be passing on an NFL ready talent, which they desperately need.
The prediction for The New York Giants.
The Giants will not give away their fourth overall pick based on their desperate need on the offensive line. There is no question the Giants staff loves Mekhi Becton due to his abilities and freakish strength, so don’t be surprised if they take him forth overall.
