In this article, we are going to be looking at my opinions on the top Rangers of the 2010s decade. Today is number 10-6.
Starting with Number 10
J.T Miller

The New York Rangers selected J.T Miller as a 1st round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. After playing in the OHL and the World Junior Championships he put up only 4 points in his rookie season in 2013. Miller was a key player for the Rangers playoff runs in 2014 and 2015. He put up 172 points in his 6 seasons with the team. He was traded in a deal that sent him and teammate Ryan McDonagh to the Tampa Bay Lightning where they had a great season in 2019 that ended in heartbreak. Miller is currently having a fantastic season with the Vancouver Canucks.
#9 Marc Staal
One of the longest-tenured New York Rangers as of 2020, Marc Staal was a 1st round draft pick of the team in 2005 and has been a decent defenseman ever since. Staal has never been a star defenseman as his career-high in points was only 29 in 2010-11. Marc Staal has 186 points in 881 games with the team. Staal has worn the A for many years.
#8 Ryan Callahan

Fan favorite and Captain Ryan Callahan was a 4th round selection in the 2004 NHL entry draft. It took Callahan a while to get to the NHL level but he didn’t disappoint in his rookie season in 2006-07, putting up a decent 6 points in 14 games. Additionally, the Rangers named Callahan team captain following Chris Drury’s departure from the team. Callahan’s career-high came in 2011-12 with 54 points in a season where the team went to the Eastern Conference finals. During a hectic trade deadline in 2014, Callahan was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Callahan spent the rest of his playing career in Tampa (of course I’m ignoring the fact that he’s on the LTIR for Ottawa). Callahan as a captain was in the light of the media and he always seemed so confident. In addition, there were many more reasons why I admired him as a kid. I enjoyed his style of play.
Coming in at number 7 Dan Girardi

Dan Girardi was truly a one of a kind unique player. It’s not every day you play 900 games as an undrafted player. New York signed Girardi as an undrafted free agent on July 1st, 2006. He scored 6 points in his rookie year. Girardi put up consistent 14-31 point seasons in his 11 seasons as a Blueshirt. Girardi wore the A on his sweater for many years but unfortunately, he left the team in 2017 free agency. Dan Girardi is also one of my favorite players ever. Fans adored him, too.
#6 Rick Nash

After 9 seasons in Columbus the former 1st overall pick, Rick Nash, was traded to New York in a blockbuster move in 2012. Nash’s time in New York was short but noteworthy. Nash was a good player in his 6 seasons with the team. Nash’s best season with New York was by far in 2014-15 where he scored 42 goals and 69 points, which are both equally important. After many unsuccessful playoffs runs the Rangers decided it was time to sell in the Trade Deadline in 2018. Nash was a victim of the fire sale being sent to Boston. Nash retired after the season ended, making it seem like trading him was a good idea in the first place.
Next time we will be finishing the countdown with number 5-1.
