With a diverse slate of fast and slow pace, NBA teams featuring several big-name starters facing the injury bug, Wednesday’s slate provides a unique opportunity to capitalize on high-usage stars as well as some dirt-cheap value plays. In my first article here at Overtime Heroics, I’ll go over some of the smartest plays to set yourself up for an end of the night cash-out. Let’s get started!
Point Guard
Trae Young – Atlanta Hawks vs New York Knicks – $10,400
No surprise here, Young will star in a fast-paced game against a Knicks defense that allowed 48 and 42 points to the Hawks point guard in their previous two match-ups. Additionally, the Hawks will be playing at home, where Young averages 3.5 more points and 1.2 more assists per game. The likelihood of a high scoring affair, combined with a friendly home environment should result in an ideal face-off where Young could easily put up 60+ fantasy points.
Honorable mention: Jrue Holiday ($8200), Devonte Graham ($7,000), Goran Dragic ($5,500)
Shooting Guard
Josh Richardson – Philadelphia 76ers vs Detroit Pistons – $5,200
Cleared to play after suffering a concussion, Richardson will return to the court against a Pistons team that has struggled defensively over the past few weeks. With Ben Simmons likely absent until the postseason, and Joel Embiid’s status hovering in the air, Richardson could easily see 30-35 minutes on the court. Don’t hesitate to snag Richardson at a deep discount.
Honorable Mention: Shai-Gilgeous Alexander ($6,300), Cam Reddish ($4,900)
Small Forward
Tim Hardaway Jr – Dallas Mavericks vs Denver Nuggets – $6,300
Kristaps Porzingis missing tonight’s game means more points available to other members of the Dallas squad, such as Hardaway Jr. The Mavericks starter has seen 30+ and minutes in his last seven outings and has played fantastically, recording 38+ fantasy points in his last two games. Hardaway Jr has also shown the ability to play well in back-to-back’s, putting up 34.8 and 47.5 fantasy points in his last two B2B appearances.
Honorable Mention: Duncan Robinson ($6,000), Harrison Barnes ($5,000)
Power Forward
Julius Randle – New York Knicks @ Atlanta Hawks – $7,800
After a hectic night against the Wizards where Randle fouled out early, the New York Knicks power forward will have a huge opportunity to rebound in a prime match-up against a shaky Hawks front-court. Expect more production from Randle and less from Ntilikina and Portis.
Honorable Mention: Maxi Kleber ($4,600), Thon Maker ($3,100)
Center
Willie Cauley-Stein – Dallas Mavericks vs Denver Nuggets – $3,000
This suggestion may seem a little out of the left-field since during the 2019-20 season Cauley-Stein has disappeared off the fantasy radar completely. However, with the aforementioned absence of Kristaps Porzingis, Cauley-Stein should see plenty of opportunities to skyrocket above the value of his baseline price-tag.
Honorable Mention: Dewayne Dedmon ($4,700), Zion Williamson ($7,800)
