Ryan Tannehill, Titans Agree to Extension

Ryan Tannehill of the Tennesee Titans has a new contract, and it is a big one. Ryan Tannehill and the Titans agreed to a contract for four years and $118 million making him the seventh-highest paid quarterback in the NFL.

Tannehill has had a rough road up until this point after his falling out in Miami. But, after Marcus Mariota struggled to get things going to start the year, Tannehill earned the starting spot and capitalized on it. Tannehill threw for 22 touchdowns and six interceptions in his 12 starts for the Titans in 2019. Tannehill also led the NFL in Passer Rating with 117.5.

The long term deal gives the Titans the ability to franchise tag running back Derrick Henry and try to run back their 2019 success. The Titans went 9-7 and made it to the AFC Championship game in 2019.

Here are the numbers per Jeff Darlington:

  • $118 million total
  • $29.5 million average per year
  • $62 million full guarantee
  • $91 million total guarantee
