The Browns have made a couple moves before the start of free agency. First, they have placed a second-round tender Kareem Hunt essentially locking him in for another year in Cleveland. Their second move was to cut veteran safety, Morgan Burnett. The Browns were expected to make this move.

Kareem Hunt

Hunt is coming off a season in which he appeared in eight games for the Browns after being suspended under the NFL’s conduct policy. In eight games, Hunt displayed the talent that made him a rushing champion in previous years with the Chiefs. He would finish the year with 80 touches for a total of 464 yards and three touchdowns. It is unlikely that a team will spend a second-rounder to sign Hunt, especially after another run-in with the law this offseason.
Morgan Burnett
Burnett was signed last offseason to help bring a veteran presence to the secondary. He would spend most of the season fighting injuries. This is now Burnett’s second disappointing season in a row. On the wrong side of 30 and with multiple dow seasons, it is unlikely that Burnett will be a hot commodity on the free-agent market.
